Grandfather Clock

The good ones are extremely expensive. As for fashionable – well it depends upon how much room you have and what the style of the rest of your furniture is. If you have a house full of antiques or very traditional furniture, it would look wonderful. OTOH, if you are furnished in ultra modern or early American – not so hot. Also, most of them ding every 15 minutes and really ding dong on the hour when all of the chimes sound the hour = 12 times at 12 o’oclock.

There’s a couple across the street from us, and they collect grandfather clocks of all types. They have several that are well over 100 years old, and I think one that’s close to 200 years old. It’s fascinating to hear the history behind some of them, and how they came to own them.

We had a grandfather clock in our house while I was growing up. No minhag, just my parents liked how it looked. I used to love watching the clock technician work when he came once a year to maintain it.

Minhag is it also a minhag to have a couch??!! please??!!
