do you guys believe the trade that israel did releasing tons of terrorists for one person. Dont get me wrong i am thrilled that he is finally free and that his family could see him but i think you would be putting more people at risk for one person one persons release could be the cause of many terrorists attacks and many people killed Basically i have mixed feelings about if this is the right thing to do. one one hand i am thrilled that he is finally released but one the other hand 1 persons life could be the cause of many more attacks. just think what would the families feel that there loved ones that were killed by these terrorists. is that fair to them. is it fair to the safety of israel. i dont know. please share your opinions of this critical and crucial matter thank you.

Supposedly the heads of the Mossad and Shin Bet are backing this so presumably they think there is no or minimal risk to the general Israeli public.

Clearly in the other thread I said that I believed that HKBH appointed the people with the proper wherewithal and information to make the right decisions. Here I am just pointing out on a practical level who else is supporting this decision and why that support would lead me to believe that this will work out best. The other thread was the K’lal and these are the P’ratim.

make yourself more clear. reading just this thread makes it sound like you are boteach b’odom. To fully understand you I must read all the threads and be medama milsa lmilsa?

Apparently. 🙂 Or I’m just talking from a different point of view. The question there was how could it ever be possible to do such a thing (and why the people who get to make the decisions are the ones who get to make the decisions). Here I was just talking specifically about why I’m not too worried in this particular case. But I appreciate the advice. I didn’t realize I’d be cross-referenced so Meduyak-ly (don’t have a good English word for that).

I think the schalits have gone through enough that if he is really still alive its past due that he come home.

(But really I think the palestinians are being overly greedy with their demands, IMHO)

if your not on the inside politically its tough to understand this decision. i think bbs smart enough that if these people represented a real threat it wouldnt have happened.

I think this is all about politics. After Abbas asked for a state at the UN his popularity in the PA soared. Hamas wants some of that popularity back. So my agreeing and getting 1000 prisoners thay are getting thousnads of families and friends on their side, thus weakening Abbas and his quest for Palisitinian statehood.

There is an issue with paying excessive ransom, that may encourage more kidnappings. But at this time, the more important precedent may be that Gilad is returned alive and well. I do agree with this deal on one major point – one of ours is worth a thousand of theirs.

If it was your son? I feel like he is my brother. What wouldn’t I do to get my brother back?

As an Israeli put it – the heart is happy, the mind worries about the freeing of terrorists. But he will die if we don’t get him back.
