Last week marked the 4th year that Gilad Shalit has been held captive by our enemy oppressors. Not a day goes by when Gilad is not in our tephilos and thoughts. However where is the outrage from the Jewish community?
Gilad Shalit sits alone in a prison cell somewhere and there are no mass tehillim gatherings or rallies. There are no conference calls or protests. Time and again the international court has called for his release and time and again Hamas and the Arabs ignore the calls and defy the requests and we sit back silently. I have not heard one call to pressure the White House on Gilad Shalit’s behalf.

While everyone Davens that he should be freed, not everyone agrees to free hundreds of terrorists in return for Gilad.
Yes, he is a precious Jewish soul, but is it worth for many other lives that these terrorists may take once they are freed?
That’s the problem here. If we go out in protest, we are stating that Israel should do ANYTHING to get him free, even if it means getting 1000 animal terrorist out loose.
I’ll say this again: how about if every frum newssite, EVERY time they have an article about Gilad include the words Gilad ben Aviva. Even if both names are mentioned in the article people don’t necessarily know that those are the full names.
It’s a start, albeit a humble one.
Gilad Shalit has nothing to do with America. Pollard for example is sitting in jail on American soil so people are pressuring the white house to let him out and let him go back to Israel. However the United States has nothing to do with Gilad Shalit.
It’s not that i’m unhappy that he’s in jail but U.S. really can’t do much about it.

You are not being realistic. Hamas is a terrorist organization bent on destroying the State of Israel and murdering all its civilians. The only way they will release Shalit is if Israel releases imprisoned terrorists which wont happen. Or, Israel will launch a commando raid and save him but it seems likely that he is kept in a place that will make a raid impossible or too costly on other soldiers lives.
