April 29, 2012 4:01 am at 4:01 am #900014147ParticipantAvodah Zara Daf 8a; All about how the winter solstice came about, and accompanying celebrations etc.
Or Arachin Daf 15, after dealing with the consequences of Loshon Horo in Tazria Metzoro.
or the very last Amud of Makkos, as we are just a 1/4 year away from Tisha b’Ov.
April 29, 2012 4:04 am at 4:04 am #900015yitayningwutParticipantPesachim 49b.
April 29, 2012 4:10 am at 4:10 am #900016Sam2ParticipantYitay: My favorite. See the Ben Yehoyada there.

April 29, 2012 4:42 am at 4:42 am #900018yitayningwutParticipantSam –
Took me some time to find what you mean, but now I see what he says about autopsies. Is that what you were referring to? Wow.
I was once in an alleyway behind Ben Yehuda Street at about three in the morning when I saw some hippyish looking guy sitting there with a guitar singing some obscure words. I inclined my ear and tried to make out what he was saying, and then I realized I already knew the words. He was singing, “?? ??? ?? ????? ??? ??????? ?????”…
April 29, 2012 5:45 am at 5:45 am #900019Sam2ParticipantYitay: That autopsy piece is absolutely Ayom V’nora. It’s one of my favorite pieces of Torah anywhere, ever. I don’t think anyone would ever Pasken it L’ma’aseh, though, even if the Ben Ish Chai said it. I think I’ve brought it down in the CR before, haven’t I?
April 29, 2012 6:10 am at 6:10 am #900020yitayningwutParticipantSam – Perhaps, I don’t recall. I won’t forget it now though, that’s for sure.
April 29, 2012 7:47 am at 7:47 am #900021sam4321ParticipantPerek Hachelek meshecehs Sanhedrin
April 29, 2012 2:46 pm at 2:46 pm #900022midwesternerParticipantAs far as Lma’aseh is concerned, who gets to determine who is included? Or does the very fact that one requests it prove that he is eligible?
April 29, 2012 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm #900023sam4321ParticipantSam2: Mamish fascinating, it also took me a while to find, thanks.
April 29, 2012 4:26 pm at 4:26 pm #900024sam4321Participantgemara in sukka 5a and meilah 17b on visiting rome and seeing things from the bais hamikdash. There are many more sources of seeing different items like the menorah and titus brain on a scale I believe, in medrashim and in the yerhusalmi.
April 29, 2012 5:12 pm at 5:12 pm #900025ZeesKiteParticipantApril 29, 2012 7:30 pm at 7:30 pm #900026HaLeiViParticipantSam2, do you have a hebrewbooks link to go with that?
April 29, 2012 8:57 pm at 8:57 pm #900027on the ballParticipantZevachim daf 66 sugya of Chatas Ha’Of.
April 29, 2012 9:34 pm at 9:34 pm #900028sam4321ParticipantApril 30, 2012 8:14 am at 8:14 am #900029HaLeiViParticipantThanks a lot, Sam4321.
The Maharal in Be’er Hagola deals with that Gemara in a different way. He says that although it would be theoretically be appropriate, every person, as long as he is alive, has the potential to become a Talmud Chacham.
April 30, 2012 10:06 pm at 10:06 pm #900030HaLeiViParticipantA great Gemara that is actually pertinent to this discussion is Eiruvin 64, the Memra of Rav Acha Bar Chanina.
April 30, 2012 11:32 pm at 11:32 pm #900031pcozMemberHaLeivi – you are allowed to use the cover of a sefer torah to bury a meis mitzva – the chasam sofer explains this is becuase when a person is alive they have the possibility to do an aveira but when they die they don’t so they now have the kedusha of a sefer torah
April 30, 2012 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm #900032not a modMemberGEMARA Megilah 7b- chayav inish libisoomay! Also megilah 10b-17a almost all agaditah gemara on megilas ester- extremely interesting gemaras.
May 1, 2012 10:52 pm at 10:52 pm #900033147ParticipantThe era has finally arrived to be focusing on Yerushalmi as we are on the final approach to Bi’as haMoshiach.
Yerushalmi is so incredibly fascinating, and no excuse when we give Din vCheshbon to haShem [@ after 120] for not having learned Yerushalmi, because B’H we are piecemeal getting an English Yerushalmi, already on several tractates, and more in the offing.
May 1, 2012 11:10 pm at 11:10 pm #900034Sam2ParticipantGemara Megillah 7b, what happened when one of the Amoraim got drunk.
May 8, 2012 4:57 am at 4:57 am #900035sam4321ParticipantSanhedrin 65b story with Rava and Rav Zeira and the story afterwards.
October 21, 2012 4:17 pm at 4:17 pm #900036theyeshivabochurMembersmartstar,
you have to learn gemara because it is gemara and not because it is interesting!!!!
