there is a report in the press that four members who calle themsleves the “neturei karta’ representatives” met in GAZA with the head of Hamas. Personally, I think these people are “rodfim’ and are open to the most severe punishments. In any case, it is despicable that they meet with our most heinous and impalcbale enemies. Their leader is called “rabbi’ yisroel weiss. I think he lives in monsey .he should be put in cherem. What do the people on this website think?

The Chazon Ish referred to NK as “Yidden from before Matan Torah”, meaning their hatred of Zionism was not related to the Torah. The Chazon Ish ZT”L was not a Zionist- witness his whole struggle against mandatory national service for women- but his hatred of Zionism came from a love of Torah, not from a need to vent his hatred. This quote comes from the book “In their shadow” (English translation of “Bemichitzatam” by noted Chareidi askan Shlomo Lorinz). The book brings down a story where a young member of NK accused the Chazon Ish of not being sufficiently anti-Zionist. He also acted with great chutzpah to the Chazon Ish. The young man did not live out the year.
There are similar quotes from The Brisker Rov ZT”L. This is not a knock on Rav Amram Blau ZT”L. But movements tha tuse negative middos by definition draw people with negative middos. The passuk says “Ohavei Hashem sin’u ra”. But some people just need an outlet to vent their hate. Hate without the Ahavas Hashem and Ahavas habrios of the Chazon Ish and Brisker Rav get distorted into sinas yisroel which we see today. Negative middos must be used very carefully and must be matched with constant Torah, Mussar and Ahavas Habrios like the kind done by the Chazon Ish and the Brisker Rav. Negativity breeds negativity.

July 20, 2009 11:25 pm at 11:25 pm #650922Darchei NoamMemberJothar, The Gedolim supported Reb Amram and the NK. Rav Amram was the NK, and the NK was Rav Amram. So you can’t differentiate. Specifically both the Chazon Ish and the Brisker Rav were close to Reb Amram and supported his, and the NK’s, activities, as the article in this week’s Hamodia by Rav Yishai Sofer explains. (See the extended article in the paper. The other thread are just excerpts.) I haven’t seen the book by Mr. Lorinz, but at most he could have been referring to a “lone ranger” who whilst a member of the NK, under no circumstances was his comment to the CI anything other than his own, and in no way represented the NK. As mentioned, the CI and The Rav supported the NK and Reb Amram.
(Of course we are talking of the original NK and the small kehila that is in Eretz Yisroel. Not the clowns parading around under that usurped name.)
