March 13, 2012 2:01 am at 2:01 am #878433YW Moderator-42ModeratorShea Stadium imploded awhile ago (and so did the team that used to play there)
March 13, 2012 2:05 am at 2:05 am #878434DFLMembershea stadium is gone but not the mets! a Jew never gives up
March 13, 2012 2:22 am at 2:22 am #878435writersoulParticipantGo Mets (on behalf of my dad— I’m nonpartisan, but I won’t say that with HIM around)!
CitiField is the stadium you want, Getzel.
March 13, 2012 2:46 am at 2:46 am #878436GetzelParticipantcorrection” it will be at Citi field
[clarification needed]
[41] For selected games, SeaStreak provides ferry service between Highlands, New Jersey and the stadium. Both ferry services use the slips at the World’s Fair Marina, located approximately a quarter of a mile north of Citi Field. The park is also close to several major thoroughfares, including the Grand Central Parkway, the Whitestone/Van Wyck Expressway, the Long Island Expressway, Roosevelt Avenue and Northern Boulevard.
Citi Field is adjacent to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where the annual US Open grand-slam tennis tournament is held.
Since the construction of Citi Field began, satellite parking lots in Flushing Meadow Park (access from College Point Boulevard) have been opened.
March 13, 2012 3:57 am at 3:57 am #878438dash™ParticipantIs anyone planning to live-Tweet the event?
March 13, 2012 12:58 pm at 12:58 pm #878439gavra_at_workParticipantHopefully they will have a better showing than the Mets, who can’t seem to get anyone to show up.
March 13, 2012 12:59 pm at 12:59 pm #878440lesschumrasParticipantThe LIRR station is open only when the Mets have a game scheduled
March 13, 2012 1:03 pm at 1:03 pm #878441GetzelParticipanti heard many many yeshivos will be attending
Dash why don”t u come attend?
March 13, 2012 2:21 pm at 2:21 pm #878442zahavasdadParticipantIs anyone planning to live-Tweet the event?
LOL
New York Water Taxi operates a free ferry to the stadium from Pier 11/Wall Street and the East 34th Street Ferry Landing before every game
There is no FREE Ferry to Citifield

March 13, 2012 4:02 pm at 4:02 pm #878446bptParticipantWhen do tickets go on sale? Or is it free? Or will my Siyum Shas ticket reciept be needed to gain entry?
And If I attend this event, do I still need to go to the syium?
March 13, 2012 4:22 pm at 4:22 pm #878447BTGuyParticipantlol @ dash…
March 13, 2012 4:28 pm at 4:28 pm #878448A Woman Outside BrooklynParticipantIf this is really true, how come there hasn’t been anything about it in the YWN news section? What is your source, getzel1?
And presuming it is true, who is sponsoring this? How would one obtain tickets?
March 13, 2012 4:54 pm at 4:54 pm #878450EzratHashemMemberI hope there will be practical suggestions as to how it is possible to function today without internet, we’ve heard the horror stories already but how many people heed the warnings?
March 13, 2012 5:17 pm at 5:17 pm #878451BowwowParticipantWill the kosher hot dog stands be open?
March 13, 2012 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm #878452zahavasdadParticipantin all seriousness, they’d better be able to sell out all or at least most of the 42,000 seats. There is nothing more embarassing than having a rally in front of an empty stadium.
In todays world if they dont sell out they will look incredbily foolish to the outside world
March 13, 2012 5:22 pm at 5:22 pm #878453Feif UnParticipantWill they put the quarter million dollar mechitza up?
March 13, 2012 5:55 pm at 5:55 pm #878454uneeqParticipantFeif Un: Will they put the quarter million dollar mechitza up?
Nope, it will cost much more than that. They will have to put up a massive wall of fire. And we all know that the price would be exorbitant.
But any firewall mechitza would be priceless.
March 13, 2012 5:58 pm at 5:58 pm #878455uneeqParticipantA woman outside America: If this is really true, how come there hasn’t been anything about it in the YWN news section? What is your source, getzel1?
YWN is an internet news website.
YWN not posting about an internet convention that’s against the internet would be the correct thing to do, at least in the business sense.
March 13, 2012 6:26 pm at 6:26 pm #878456HarotzehbilumshmoParticipantGetzel, are you sure? Something is wrong, that day is the last day of the Torah Umesorah convention. Would the cross schedule that?
March 14, 2012 2:17 am at 2:17 am #878457longarekelMemberWhen all Gedolim ban internet completly wake me up. Until then don’t waste my time with rallies and speeches that are here today and gone tomorrow and have no lasting effect at all.
March 14, 2012 3:11 am at 3:11 am #878458HealthParticipantI’ll try again. How about making a gathering that discusses molestation?
March 14, 2012 3:24 am at 3:24 am #878459DJHockerMemberMets are chush. at least well use the stadium for one good thing……………
March 14, 2012 4:06 am at 4:06 am #878461dash™Participanti heard many many yeshivos will be attending
Dash why don”t u come attend?
I can’t make a decision to attend based on the limited information I found.
March 14, 2012 3:27 pm at 3:27 pm #878462littleappleMemberlongarekel: I disagree about the effect of rallies and speeches. Look at the rally that Ezra made that convinced tens or hundreds of Jewish men to separate from their non-Jewish spouses, something probably not achievable any other way.
March 14, 2012 4:09 pm at 4:09 pm #878463cherrybimParticipantThe Ban the Internet event will take place on Yom Yerushalayim and will be available for live streaming with prior registration at the sponsor’s website.
March 14, 2012 4:18 pm at 4:18 pm #878464BaalHaboozeParticipantwhy do 42000 people have to squish into a stadium these days when you can watch it live via video-hookup on the internet in the comfort of your hom….uh…never mind!
March 14, 2012 9:14 pm at 9:14 pm #878465apushatayidParticipantIt’s still Adar, I guess.
March 15, 2012 12:11 am at 12:11 am #878466writersoulParticipantcherrybin: Is that serious?
March 15, 2012 1:10 pm at 1:10 pm #878467A Woman Outside BrooklynParticipantStill haven’t seen a word about this outside of this thread. It’s not in this week’s Jewish Press (print edition, thank you), or the Mishpacha that arrived this morning. Haven’t checked Hamodia or Yated. Point being – is this for real? And why wouldn’t this have a 1/4 million mechatzia if the Siyum HaShas requires one?
March 15, 2012 2:14 pm at 2:14 pm #878468cherrybimParticipantEveryone here knows that I’m the most serious guy in the CR. By the way, who is the sponsor?
March 15, 2012 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm #878469Rav TuvParticipantwho is the sponsor?
Apple and Microsoft.
April 30, 2012 3:46 am at 3:46 am #878470GetzelParticipantwere can u buy tickets?
