hello fellow daters, does anyone have any funny material or funny things to talk aobut that will result in giggles from the girl?
June 1, 2011 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #775047Pac-ManMemberIs giggling tznius?
(Ask that question on your date. Let us know if she giggled.)
June 1, 2011 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #775048adorableParticipantyou want to make the girl laugh? interesting date but you can tell her funny things that you and your friends did when in yeshiva/dorm
June 1, 2011 5:57 pm at 5:57 pm #775049☕️coffee addictParticipantjust be yourself,
you can’t sell something which isn’t there (or which you don’t own)
I could sell you the Brooklyn Bridge though
June 1, 2011 6:06 pm at 6:06 pm #775050bptParticipantSnapple fun facts. That’s always a great opener. Plus, the Ami kid section’s “12 things about <varies each week>”
Plus, that will show what you read (in addition to the WSJ, of course)
June 1, 2011 6:10 pm at 6:10 pm #775051lovebeingjewishParticipanti could sell you new york 😉
June 1, 2011 6:22 pm at 6:22 pm #775052PosterMembermy husband told me dorm stories that really had me laughing.
June 1, 2011 6:23 pm at 6:23 pm #775053☕️coffee addictParticipanti could sell you new york 😉
1. that actually happened (if anyone here remembers history class)
2. I wouldn’t buy it
June 1, 2011 6:47 pm at 6:47 pm #775054dating mir guyMemberFor me this always works (can’t overdo it with the same girl though). Point out something random around you, and completely make something up about it. For example, point to a nearby painting or sculpture or whatever, and say, “did you know that that painting was created in 1852 in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday?!” When she says, “really?”, or “how do you know?”, you say, “oh, I have no idea – I made it up!” Gets a laugh every time.
June 1, 2011 7:04 pm at 7:04 pm #775055☕️coffee addictParticipantyou don’t think the girl wouldn’t trust you anymore
like how can she believe you if you’re starting to make up things
June 1, 2011 7:22 pm at 7:22 pm #775056dunnoMemberI’m with coffee addict. Not to bust your ego, but I wouldn’t find that too funny…
June 1, 2011 7:27 pm at 7:27 pm #775057adorableParticipanti would think the guy is a really odd person
June 1, 2011 7:32 pm at 7:32 pm #775058Dr. PepperParticipantDuring one semester at college I used to get a ride home with another guy from yeshiva. One evening he was having a test and asked if I could get a ride home from someone else in the class.
I answered that the only other frum people who live nearby are females and it will be yichud at that hour.
He (jokingly) told me that there is no issur of yichud with a girl taking calculus.
For some reason I decided to repeat this on a date and the girl just stared at me stone faced.
“You don’t find that funny?” I asked.
“Uh, I’m currently taking Calc II”.
Well, she ended up saying “no”, I can’t imagine why?
June 1, 2011 7:33 pm at 7:33 pm #775059dating mir guyMemberok, my ego’s been shut down! 🙂 Truth is, I wouldn’t do it to everyone. Only to someone who appreciates dumb sarcastic humor….
June 1, 2011 7:44 pm at 7:44 pm #775060RedNails19ParticipantSometimes embarrassing stories make me laugh….but be careful with what you choose 2 say….some guys I’ve gone out thought I wouldnt get grossed out by vomit/bathroom stories…and I did…yea, s’dont use that..but definitly funny dorm/camp stories work!!
June 1, 2011 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #775061dunnoMemberRedNails19
I agree. Some of the stories guys have said were really funny but at the same time really inappropriate for a date.
June 1, 2011 8:50 pm at 8:50 pm #775062walton157MemberHow about the column “Weird But True” from the NY Post? You can’t make this stuff up.
June 1, 2011 9:09 pm at 9:09 pm #775063SacrilegeMembermir guy
I can see that being either really cute or completely annoying, I guess it depends on how good your delivery is.
One guy I went out w told me a some ‘funny’ story about how he pranked a shop keeper in Israel… I though he was a jerk. I said no.
(Not only because of the story, he was an all around jerk.)
Be careful about the stories you tell…
June 1, 2011 9:18 pm at 9:18 pm #775064dunnoMemberBe careful about the stories you tell…
Very important piece of advice
June 1, 2011 10:25 pm at 10:25 pm #775065basket of radishesParticipantum. Tell her you can make milk come out of your nose when you laugh. That might make a few laughs. If it doesnt, order some milk.

June 2, 2011 5:30 pm at 5:30 pm #775069ToiParticipantRandom advice to guys- really random things can make a first date uncomfortable so keep any extreme stories to yourself
June 2, 2011 11:56 pm at 11:56 pm #775070popa_bar_abbaParticipantmir guy: That is my humor; that’s what I do. I do it to friends, family, whoever. See also http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/lying-on-ywn
I make up stories about buildings, fields, cars, people, anything I see.

I actually did with a guy. I tried figuring out his screen name but couldn’t.
June 3, 2011 4:06 pm at 4:06 pm #775072apushatayidParticipantTry to go with a girl to someplace very busy. I used to take girl to anyplace in midtown manhattan and wing it from there. The advantage of midtown manhattan is that anywhere you turn you have something to discuss, something to see and you never know who you might see or meet (still remember the time I bumped into Michael J Fox, the comedian Freddie Roman and and a couple of NY Rangers including John Vanbiesbrouk – I had a roomate who came back from a date to the dorm with a napkin signed by mike tyson). If you still cant figure it out, you can always go into a hotel lobby, order a drink and talk about the things you saw outside.

Was it WIY?
June 5, 2011 7:44 pm at 7:44 pm #775077KIsh Echad BLev EchadMemberMy personal favorite: Take the date to a Barnes and Noble Kids section. BIG conversation starter (especially “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and Dr. Suess)

June 6, 2011 3:57 am at 3:57 am #775080alwaysmachmirParticipantI once started a date by saying “This is awkward…” Best date ever.
June 6, 2011 4:54 pm at 4:54 pm #775081apushatayidParticipantI once ended a date by saying, “this is awkward….” We got married 5 months later.
June 6, 2011 5:28 pm at 5:28 pm #775082anon1m0usParticipantI took my dates to Jekyll & Hyde…that was always an AWESOME place to go if you lack any conversational openers.

Was the … “will you marry me?”
“We got married 5 months later.”
That’s a long engagement!
