February 5, 2017 12:07 am at 12:07 am #1215328LightbriteParticipanttwisted: Sounds like your frum peppers made a simcha with chemical weapons.
February 6, 2017 1:55 am at 1:55 am #1215329LightbriteParticipantseedys, there are also Husband-Friendly Stuffed Peppers (by jewishfeminist02)

February 6, 2017 1:02 pm at 1:02 pm #1215330seedysParticipantLigthbrite, I make peppers stuffed with lentils and millet.
February 6, 2017 1:36 pm at 1:36 pm #1215331seedysParticipantLightbrite, it may have been mushrooms and millet stuffed peppers. I have a vegetarian individual at home, so I need to be creative with my meals.
February 6, 2017 2:43 pm at 2:43 pm #1215332Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantGreen. Esther Hamalka was green, so apparently it’s the most tznius color, and hence, the most Frum.
February 6, 2017 4:13 pm at 4:13 pm #1215333twistedParticipantYes, lightbrite, my humble garden has firepower, the feared capcasin.
Lul, green are just unripe fruits. They ripen to the very untzius red, or chasvesholom yellow, and the past nit orange and purple.
February 6, 2017 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #1215334Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantgreen peppers become red peppers? What?
February 6, 2017 5:16 pm at 5:16 pm #1215335Geordie613ParticipantJust make sure to take trumos and maasros from Israeli peppers which are very popular in the UK market at the minute.
February 6, 2017 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #1215336iacisrmmaParticipantLU: Bell Peppers are like tomatoes. They start out green and slowly turn red (or other colors).
From the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
“Bell peppers can be found in a rainbow of colors and can vary in flavor. The variety of the pepper plant, and the stage of the ripeness, determines the flavor and color of each pepper. For example, a red bell pepper is simply a mature green bell pepper. As a bell pepper ages, its flavor becomes sweeter and milder. Red bell peppers contain eleven times more beta carotene than green bell peppers.”
February 6, 2017 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #1215337Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantAre you talking about regular green peppers or about something else? (not sure what a bell pepper is)
February 6, 2017 5:44 pm at 5:44 pm #1215338👑RebYidd23ParticipantBell peppers are sweet peppers.
February 6, 2017 6:50 pm at 6:50 pm #1215339iacisrmmaParticipantBell Peppers are the regular peppers found in the fruit department.
February 6, 2017 8:20 pm at 8:20 pm #1215340LightbriteParticipantLU, yes regular green peppers that people stuff are called bell peppers.
Until now I didn’t realize why they call them bell peppers, but they do look like a bell with a handle and bell when you open it up to remove the seeds.
Who said Esther was green? So exciting. I ? green!
February 6, 2017 8:21 pm at 8:21 pm #1215341LightbriteParticipantSeedys(!) Your stuffed peppers sound delicious. I love the lentil and millet idea 🙂
February 6, 2017 11:07 pm at 11:07 pm #1215342iacisrmmaParticipantOn this page the IBN EZRA in Passuk zayin says “V’DARSHU YERAKRAKOS MITAAM HADASAH”. Expound greenish from Hadasah.
February 7, 2017 12:43 am at 12:43 am #1215343LightbriteParticipantReally? And everyone knows that Esther was green? And my childhood rebbetzin failed to leave that detail out when she told me of her miraculous beauty?
Amazing.
February 7, 2017 9:16 pm at 9:16 pm #1215345☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantThe Gemara says that “Esther y’rakroikess hoy’sah,” but thinking it means she was green like a leaf is probably incorrect (although I did see an article in a frum publication, probably about 2 years ago, which theorized that she had a particular medical condition).
A blog I found points out that YRK is used for a number of different colors, and so it could mean that she had a yellowish complexion.
February 7, 2017 9:18 pm at 9:18 pm #1215346☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantAlso, the Gemara lists a number of exceptionally beautiful
women, Esther being one of them, and says that according
to the opinion that Esther was y’rakroikess, a certain other
woman should be listed in her place.
February 7, 2017 9:28 pm at 9:28 pm #1215347Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI remember hearing a shiur many years ago about the significance of that Midrash. It has to do with the fact that green is a medium color apparently. Apparently, some colors are hot and some are cold and green is medium (no clue what that means – any scientists out there who care to explain?).
Anyhow, I think it had to do with the fact that she was the kind of person who can relate to everyone. This is also connected to the fact that the Midyanim thought she was from Midyan, and the Mitzriim thought she was a Mitzri, etc.
Basically, she was able to connect with and find commonality with everyone.
I hope I’m saying that over correctly – I heard this many years ago.
I always thought that was a really nice ideal – to strive to be the kind of person whom everyone connects with (without compromising one’s values obviously).
February 7, 2017 9:41 pm at 9:41 pm #1215348Little FroggieParticipantThat Medrash is exactly what it means, she had a physical complexion that DID NOT add beauty. It was the ??? ?? ???, the grace of G-d, that did it. And that is EXACTLY what the Medrash is pointing out. Nothing in her physical, gashmius aspect held this chein, truly everything was miraculous. Just as in this week’s parsha, where the ??? ????? found grace in the eyes of their oppressors.. ?? ???? ???. This was total chain from Above.
February 9, 2017 3:09 am at 3:09 am #1215349LightbriteParticipantHow did her skin become green?
If you take too much minocycline then your skin can turn blue permanently.
Same with consuming colloidal silver.
Eating too many carrots or foods with beta carotene can make your skin orange.
Where does a green complexion come from?
Maybe because Hashem wanted to prove a point?
