On a different thread NC wrote
“On a side note, what she said about cold dishes is correct. I think there’s a tendency of some MO people to eat even hot food off of treif utensils if the food itself is kosher (not saying this is mainstream). I don’t want to derail this thread too much though.”

I do want to point out. (though not there since it is well off topic) That there isnt technically anything wrong with eating cold food on treif dishes

Furthermore, strictly speaking even a Goy cooking Kosher food in trefi keilim that are eino ben yomo (and a “Stam kli” is eino ben yomo) isnt assur as there is no gezeira of eino ben yomo uto ben yomo for a Goy.

However R’ Moshe in a teshuva established kashrus policy adhered to by all major hashgachos not to certify such a situation as it is “mechuar hadavar”

He said even hot food. (I have no idea how prevalent it is.)

Of course worth noting is the issur of Bishul Akkum, though that is rather easily remedied especially for Ashkenazim

    “He said even hot food.”

Like you I am not familliar with this arrangement , and needless to say I am not advocating for it.
Though again as mentioned Even with hot food , IF the Goy cooks it (and it isnt bishul akkum and he doesnt instruct the GOy to cook it, though I cant think of a scenario that would allow for both of these critical caveats)
It would seem that Me’ikar hadin it still wouldnt automaticly be assur

I don’t think we can apply “stam keilim einom b’nei yoman” in a restaurant or catering establishment, where the keilim are used daily for treif food.
