Just wondering if anyone could tell a ba’al teshuvah interested in chassidus of any shiurim or lectures in the Flatbush area. I live in Queens, but plan on moving to the Flatbush area. Thanks.
January 12, 2009 5:28 am at 5:28 am #631402JosephParticipantOut of curiosity, why are you moving to flatbush?

January 13, 2009 2:17 am at 2:17 am #631419mazal77ParticipantLandau’s is the Minyan Factory in Flatbush. Forgot to daven Maariv/Arbit?? it’s 1:00am!! Have no fear- you’ll find a minyan here, and then some.
January 13, 2009 3:00 am at 3:00 am #631420squeakParticipantasdfghjkl – does that mean I was wrong when I guessed you were more of a Frankel’s type of guy? You can admit that I am right, it won’t give anything away.
January 13, 2009 6:30 am at 6:30 am #631421asdfghjklParticipantsqueak: lol i was wondering what happened to you recently!!! to recap for you–on friday i surrendered & said i live in Flatbush!!! the funniest part is that i’m just a few blocks away from Frankel’s!!! no i’m not a Frankel’s guy, never stepped in that shul even!!!
January 13, 2009 9:28 am at 9:28 am #631423Yisroel805MemberI’m moving to Flatbush for more Jewish diversity. The neighborhood I live in is mostly yeshivish. As far as chassidus is concerned, I’m interested in all types. I’ve spent most of my time away for shabbos over the past year in Kiryas Yoel and New Square. What kinds of shiurim are given at Landaus’s shul?
January 13, 2009 3:21 pm at 3:21 pm #631424areivimzehlazehParticipantsqueak & asdfghjkl- i will flip if you’re Frankel guys (i didn’t know girls attend minyan asdfghjkl)
January 13, 2009 3:54 pm at 3:54 pm #631425squeakParticipantasdfghjkl – I’m not surprised that I was right.
areivim – I have made it clear in a few places already that I don’t live in Brooklyn anymore (for a long time already!).
January 13, 2009 3:59 pm at 3:59 pm #631426areivimzehlazehParticipantsqueak- aha! i was right when all the way in the beginning, when i was a pure novice in the CR, i asked if you just made aliya. i can’t get over that you’re __________ wow oh wow- i’m having cardiac arrest
January 13, 2009 4:04 pm at 4:04 pm #631427mazal77ParticipantLandau’s is yeshivish. They have a diverse group of speakers. I am not all that familiar with who speaks, but they have had R’ Paysach Krohn speak a few weeks ago and other Rabbonim on various topics. Anyone know who is giving Shiurim at Landau’s in the next few weeks and give Yisroel more info??
January 13, 2009 4:11 pm at 4:11 pm #631428amichaiParticipantareivimzehlazeh-don’t get off the subject. answer yisroel805.i find in most posts people totally get off the main subject. it just seems silly to me that on most posts, a person coming from the outside , like myself who does not write in alot, will look up a topic and not know what is flying because you all chat with each other. yes, this is totally off the subject at hand but i am quite frustrated with the way people write in. am i the only one that feels that way? good luck yisroel805 on your move to flatbush.
January 13, 2009 4:23 pm at 4:23 pm #631429asdfghjklParticipantsqueak: lol what made you think i was a Frankel’s guy???
areivimzehlazeh: ha really funny!!!
January 13, 2009 4:49 pm at 4:49 pm #631430JosephParticipantsqueak, right about what? I outted asdf as a Landau’s flatbush dude.
So your a former Manhattanite, a former Brooklynite…
January 13, 2009 7:25 pm at 7:25 pm #631431squeakParticipantyes, and yes.
January 13, 2009 7:37 pm at 7:37 pm #631432areivimzehlazehParticipantjoseph: don’t pay attention, squeak just advised charlie he’s going crazy/insane so i guess that applies to living location as well
January 13, 2009 7:50 pm at 7:50 pm #631433RoshYeshivahMemberamchai there’s a thread regarding your topic it’s called general shmooze.
January 13, 2009 8:24 pm at 8:24 pm #631434squeakParticipantcareful areivim…. there’s no telling what an insane boss can do to your performance review when he’s provoked….
January 13, 2009 8:28 pm at 8:28 pm #631435AL2ParticipantRabbi Yisroel Reisman speaks in Flatbush in Ahiezer every Motzai Shabbos. I know he’s not Chassidish but you can learn a lot from him.
January 13, 2009 8:38 pm at 8:38 pm #631437AL2ParticipantOr how about Rabbi Fishel Schachter? He’s Chassidish if I recall correctly, but I’m not sure where he speaks. I think he speaks in Ohr Yitzchok, in Flatbush. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
January 14, 2009 2:33 am at 2:33 am #631438JosephParticipantsqueak, do you wish to divulge your approximate geographic coordinates, or prefer it be done for you?
January 14, 2009 3:43 pm at 3:43 pm #631439squeakParticipantIs that a threat? In that case, what motivation do I have to reveal them myself?
January 14, 2009 4:10 pm at 4:10 pm #631440JosephParticipantsqueak, the humor eludes you.
January 14, 2009 5:00 pm at 5:00 pm #631441squeakParticipantIn that case, we are of the same approximate geographic location (tri-state).
January 15, 2009 1:05 am at 1:05 am #631442JosephParticipantsqueak, that narrows it down mightily. You can say Queens without being very specific.
January 15, 2009 1:48 am at 1:48 am #631443squeakParticipantIf I didn’t care to be truthful, yes. Otherwise, of the two of us, only you could say that.
January 15, 2009 6:53 am at 6:53 am #631444JosephParticipantsqueak, what city are you in?
January 15, 2009 2:53 pm at 2:53 pm #631445squeakParticipantAre you kidding? Anyway, I’m still reeling from the Queens guess. C’mon, you know I lived in Manhattan, then moved to Brooklyn. Do you think I’d just continue downgrading? What next then, Staten Island and then the Bronx? Yikes!
January 15, 2009 3:18 pm at 3:18 pm #631446myshadowMemberwhy flatbush? you’ll find a more chassidish crowd in boro park. go visit shomer shabbos the boro park landaus

January 15, 2009 6:45 pm at 6:45 pm #631449myshadowMembernotpashut, lol I know I dunno how I’m gona be able to survive anywhere else when I get married!!!
January 15, 2009 8:15 pm at 8:15 pm #631450areivimzehlazehParticipantnotpashut- you wrote THAT on YWN?? according to the statistics of YWN, Lakewood is the capital of the world, since “ein mayim ella torah”, thus how can a capital be a capital if it only has dead ppl in it?
January 16, 2009 12:44 am at 12:44 am #631451JosephParticipantJanuary 16, 2009 1:21 am at 1:21 am #631452Yisroel805MemberAnyone know where or what time or on what subject Rabbi Reisman speaks? And Rabbi Schachter? And just a question. Could anyone tell me anything about Rav Ben-Zion Schafer? Who he is? Where he resides? Heard some great shiurim from him on Kol Haloshon. Thanks.
January 16, 2009 2:57 am at 2:57 am #631453squeakParticipantNot quite, Joseph 🙂
