I read about this elsewhere. I am highly conflicted here. I don’t support the sikrikin; however, neither do I support the confirmation of stereotypes to our gentile neighbors that occurs when people drive around with a bumper sticker of a cartoon dollar bill and Hebrew words on it.

December 15, 2011 11:37 pm at 11:37 pm #835624ItcheSrulikMemberKol hakavod. I’ve been tempted a couple times myself.
December 18, 2011 2:51 am at 2:51 am #835625WIYMemberI don’t believe it was the Sikrikim. Either way Feivish and crew should have asked permission from the locals before pretending its purim and pulling out video equipment on the streets of Meah Shearim. Its not borough park or lakewood. You can’t do what you want and neither should you. These are the holy streets of Yerushalayim not New Jersey!

Since when did dressing like a $5 bill to raise money/awareness for an organization get onto the list of things that can’t be done in Yerushalayim? And who maintains the list?
December 18, 2011 8:29 am at 8:29 am #835628chocandpatienceMemberThe Meah Shearim residents have chosen a certain way of life.
(don’t equate sikrikim with meah shearim)
Why can’t people respect their wishes?
December 18, 2011 9:16 am at 9:16 am #835629babygooseParticipantwell, if anyone watched taht video on gruntig, wehn the police on a motorbike arrives, and asks what’s up, the yerushalmi yells back ” hu mistovev po im bachurot, mevakshim mimeno sheyelech!”
no it wasn’t sikrikim it was the regular residents, and if his claim was correct – the faivish was hanging around with girls there, then he’s got a point, becuase EVERYBODY knows not to do such things in meah shearim – and obviously they weren’t just walking through the way normal people do, cuz then there wouldn’t be any objections to him cuz maybe it’s his wife, sister etc…
