Are salmon insulted by the nickname?

Absolutely. While saying that, you should cover the salmon with a towel, out of respect.

Shoot… it’s already in my belly. Next time I will. Thank you for informing me on the correct way to handle such a sensitive salmon matter.

    Wondering…

What about if the wine/grape juice is out? Do I cover the salmon up then even if I’m not about to call it “fatty”?

Health: We’re dinner twins! I also had salmon last night 🙂

Are you saying that don’t want to eat salmon again?

    Do you find salmon delicious?

Maybe fish don’t consider fat to be derogatory.

Great point. Didn’t people formerly consider obesity a sign of financial success?

But don’t let the NSF hear that. They’ll spend $10M to do a study on it.

Excellent point. They may even take it as a compliment.

Several hundred years ago being fat was a sign of dignity and wealth.

    You mean it’s a Shidduch!

“Are you saying that don’t want to eat salmon again?”

That’s right! I’ve always had it, but my stomach can’t handle it anymore.

In Mauritania, girls are fattened, sometimes forcibly, in order to get them better marriage partners. The practice is known as leblouh. Supposedly, Jewish women in Tunisia were fattened for marriage in the 19th century.

What happens if they didn’t get married right away? Did their family keep feeding them until it happened?

What if they had several daughters of marriageable age? Instead of saving for simchas or seminary, did they invest their resources into plumping up their daughters?

What about Shabbat? You don’t gain weight on Shabbat. How did they manage?
