Excuse me, there is no such thing as ewr. You mean Newark airport! When you arrive take the 67 bus to Lakewood. It’s outside the luggage area. If you can’t find it – ask any official there.

I think anyone who knows how to get from EWR to Lakewood also knows what EWR is. Does JFK exist or only John F. Kennedy Airport?

Where in Lakewood does this bus take you? I am scheduling a trip for someone who is not familiar with the city, and neither am I. Once dropped off is it possible to find a carservice for the final, specific destination?

There are also Frum car services from Newark to Lakewood. I think it’s around $90, but I’m not sure.

For within Lakewood, there is an excellent Frum Car Service called Lakeway. It is is usually $8-12 depending where you are going. They also do long-distance, so they probably do Newark-Lakewood as well.

Were you asking me? It’s hard to tell which posts are in response to which.

I think NJ Transit is around $12.50, but I’m not 100% sure. It’s definitely much cheaper than a car service. The problem with NJ Transit is that if you are not used to taking goyish transportation, it can be very uncomfortable. I took NJ Transit to Newark once and there were people who were using nibul peh, and a guy who started up with me and made me very nervous. I think it’s not usually so bad though, especially if you are used to goyish transportation. So if you can’t afford a car service, definitely take the bus.

On the other hand, if you have to take a car service within Lakewood anyhow, you might want to consider taking a car service from Newark.

yes, but the $90 in both directions would add $180 to the ticket. for that price I may be able to get an expensive ticket to trenton nj and spare him the extra travel.

    sigh

I am very grateful for the info tho, i will cheshbon it all in.

UberX will be anywhere from 70 to 90 depending on where in the airport you are picked up and where in lakewood you are going.

A lot of $. Go to NJ transit.com and pull up the 67 route. And you’ll see where it goes.

One of the stops is the Lakewood bus terminal.

Actually I take the 67 all the time – it stops at my corner.

You can also do what I did which was to go from JFK in NY. I took the Frum Lakewood bus to Brooklyn which is app. $16 (I forgot the exact amount) and then a Frum car service to JFK. There are also goyish car services which are cheaper. I forget the amounts offhand – I think the goyish one was $25 or $30 and the Frum one was $50. I can try to find out for you and get you the numbers as well if you are interested. Either way, it’s much cheaper than a car service to Newark.

The total shouldn’t be more than app. $46. And it’s easier to get flights from JFK anyhow.

If you can’t afford to do it that way,the NJ transit isn’t terrible if you’re used to goyish transportation. I prefer to avoid it, so I would rather go a roundabout way and pay a bit more. For me, I feel it’s an issue of “yesh derech achrita”. One should always avoid an inappropriate atmosphere if possible. And I don’t mind going through Brooklyn and paying a bit more. The busride is very comfortable and relaxing.

You can go from Philly airport to Lakewood, but it will take all day.

There are a few ways to do it.

I wouldn’t advise it, unless s/o can pick you up in Philly!

Try CheapOair for Chicago to Newark.

Actually, I’m one of the poorest people around!! It only comes out to app. $34 more and if someone can pay for an airplane ticket and a bus, they can also usually find the extra $34. It generally comes down to a matter of priorities. Someone who can’t pay the extra $34 probably wouldn’t be able to pay for the ticket and the $12 for the bus either, so they wouldn’t be doing this in the first place.

You have no idea what poor is! I had to leave my house and live with my family because I couldn’t afford the rent.

Look for somebody who looks frum, and ask them for a ride. There’s a decent chance they’re headed to lkwd, and if not, maybe offer them some money for gas and tolls. Best bet is to wait in the terminal where El Al lets off. Could be a few hours, but you’re bound to meet an interesting yid or two.

    Use common sense.

There is an NJ transit bus that comes to Lakewood from Philly but not sure if its near the airport its the 317.

You take the 317 bus to the Philadelphia Greyhound Terminal, cross the street to Jefferson Station and take an airport train to the airport.

The 317 is a local route.

    hi everyone, so next question.

Once he gets dropped off at the bus terminal in lakewood, are there any places to eat very close by that he can walk to without getting lost? (Not sure if the terminal is still in a frum area.)

SL – Btw, as far as I know, there only two of us (Lakewooders) who post in CR, me and Joe. I’d appreciate if you called us by our names.

The terminal is at 1st & Lexington, there are a number of restaurants on Clifton Avenue which is 1 block away from Lexington.

After exiting the terminal make a left on 1st street (crossing the bus exit) and the first intersection will be Clifton.

(Some routes allow drop-offs at intersections along the route but there is no luggage access except at designated stations.)

Dash! Thank you SO much! I tried “driving” around using google maps but I went in the opposite direction so it looked kind of barren. Now I followed your directions and found the pizz shop. This will be so great because I can “walk” him thru it from across the country and not worry about him wandering in a foreign land.

    Thank you!

SL – “that he can walk to without getting lost?”

If he’s the type that gets lost, just go next door to the COOP.

It’s a grocery store, with a lot of ready to eat foods!

Health – Thank you so much as well! He was worried about missing the bus so he ran to the grocery store to get food! I never would have seen it cuz on google it looks like an out of business building but then there’s a guy in a black hat pushing a shopping cart in the parking lot. I tried to find something looking like an entrance but couldn’t. I never would have sent him over there.

I am now onto my next geographical challenge and am sure someone out there can help…

Is there kosher food available at JFK, (real food, not snacks) or does anyone near there deliver? This isn’t someone spendthrifty, just in a “pickle”

Terminal 2 Fresko Green label at Gates C61, 65, 66, & 70 have CIBO EXPRESS

    Dunkin Food Court

Terminal 5 Fresko Green label all are CIBO EXPRESS Opposite Gate 5

Terminal 8 Fresko Green label CIBO EXPRESS

All sandwiches are star K. No body is going to deliver to a traveler in the terminal.
