March 2, 2011 3:10 am at 3:10 am #746872s2021MemberWhat do u do when ur actually hungry at night…? I try not to eat at night but if I get hungry my stomache keeps whispering “feeeeed me…. feeeeeeeeeeed meeeeee” the whole night while I try to ignore it and fall asleep……. 🙂
March 2, 2011 3:28 am at 3:28 am #7468732morecentsParticipantWho says it’s unhealthy to eat late at night? This is a total myth and makes no sense. If you eat your heaviest meal of the day just before going to sleep, you’ll sleep like a baby and your digestive system will be able to focus 100% of whatever energy is required to slowly digest what you ate in an undisturbed, stress free way which is impossible to do when your awake.
March 2, 2011 3:39 am at 3:39 am #746874aries2756ParticipantEat a fruit.
March 2, 2011 3:54 am at 3:54 am #746875smartcookieMemberAbout 10 Years ago, I trained myself not to eat at night. It was extremely difficult. Some nights I went to sleep very hungry, but I didn’t give up. (Once you sleep you forget!)
By now, not eating at night comes so natural to me, that I don’t even think twice about it. I can’t even look at someone who eats late at night!! I do cheat here and there, but overall, I have no urge to eat after supper.
(And I’m still 20 lbs overweight :()

March 2, 2011 7:35 am at 7:35 am #746881Mother in IsraelMemberI work night and often don’t get around to eating supper until 11 pm. I’m usually starving by then so I eat more than I would eat otherwise.

Can I have your mirror since you’re not using it anyhow? 🙂
March 2, 2011 3:47 pm at 3:47 pm #746883smartcookieMemberDaas- heh heh!
C’mon, the cheating days are only if I have something crazy good to eat which I can’t resist (like choco!).
March 2, 2011 4:58 pm at 4:58 pm #746884Pashuteh YidMemberWhat on earth is wrong with eating late at night? It is hard to fall asleep hungry.
For that reason, on another thread, I recommended eating supper as late as possible so you don’t eat another snack afterwards.
March 2, 2011 5:04 pm at 5:04 pm #746885red headMemberi think the best way to stop it to put in a bite plate if you have one!
although i cant say i never eat some chocolate with a good book at night! and for girls, think about what you want to wear tomorrow and if you have to fit into it 🙂

March 3, 2011 6:56 pm at 6:56 pm #746893HealthParticipantFrom Medicine.Net:
“Does eating later in the day really cause you to gain weight? At what time of the day should I stop eating?”
Author: Betty Kovacs, MS, RD
Answer:
“It is possible to gain weight by eating later in the day, but not for the reason that most people think. You have a set number of calories that your body needs to maintain your current weight. If you stay within your calorie requirements, your weight will remain the same. When you take in more calories than your body needs, you gain weight. This will happen regardless of when you consume those calories. Let’s say that you can eat 2,000 calories a day and your weight remains the same. If you consumed extra calories at any time throughout the day, you will gain weight from those calories, not from the time of day that you consumed them. The reason that people say that we gain weight from eating at night is because most people consume a lot of calories at this time. Many studies have showed that people report that the hardest time of day for controlling their food intake is between dinner and bedtime. So, the reason you would gain from eating at this time is because you ate too many calories, not because your body doesn’t process them in the same way.
If you find that you are eating a lot in the evening, it may be beneficial to select a time to stop eating and to set a plan for what you will eat. Take a look at what time you have dinner and decide how much food is reasonable for you to have between then and bedtime. Select the food(s) that you will be allowed to have and when you will have them. The more that you plan ahead for this, the easier it will be to do.”
March 4, 2011 2:57 am at 2:57 am #746894s2021MemberO health, u made me feel better.. I was just feelin guilty for eating now…..( I had noodles at night! NOODLES! CARBS!!!) I thought the body actually does process it differently before bedtime…….
March 6, 2011 3:31 am at 3:31 am #746895HealthParticipants2021- I don’t know why you should feel better, because that midnight snack you ate is probably over your calorie limit for the day!

Thats why I felt better. My calorie intake was not bad, but I thought food before bedtime turns to instant fat!! (lol girl fears)
