Dougies on 18th avenue is closing down next week. It’s so depressing! I remember when they first opened up in ’99 I think, there were huge lines down the block just to get in. It feels like the end of an era 🙁 does anyone know what will replace it?
I feel bad for the owners and employees. Unfortunately the service was slow and the place was not clean. I don’t know if it is coincidental but there health inspection sign has shown “grade pending” for quite some time now.
thursday somebody sponsored dougies after chanuka lecht in my yeshiva and he said they told him that it would be his last time cuz there not opening next week. so there no longer open, i think schnitzi took them over a little.

huh? first you say you feel bad for them and then you list 3 reasons why we shouldnt feel bad for them. Have you had too much eggnog?

I should have posted 2 separate comments:
1) The service was getting slow, the place was not clean. I noticed over the past few weeks that the health department notice in the window said “grade pending”.
2) Even if the closing is because the owners or employees were unable to keep up certain standards, I feel sorry for anyone who loses their source of income during these trying times.
What about the Dougies in Woodbourne? I love that place! I remember in camp, me and a bunch of friends once snuck out at midnight and got a cab to Dougies. Those were awesome times…
Its always sad to see people losing their parnassah and what sometimes can be their life’s work. I have a friend going through this now. Heartrending.

i doubt the one in woodbourne it was the biggest hock in the mountains.
Maybe, just maybe, they’ll get their act together and reopen somewhere else!

The one in the mountains is a huge hangout. Its really bad what goes on there as well as other skills hangouts.
