yakovdownunder,
I don’t think people that live in Miami Beach are deficient in vitamin D (even in the winter)

I don’t understand; why would you leave the CPAP in NY, when you need it every night?
February 7, 2011 3:27 pm at 3:27 pm #738958HealthParticipanteclipse – “My mother had a symptomatic cough at a young age….an x-ray is a clear window to the lungs…Health, please “let” her take an x-ray!!”
Not exactly a clear window, but the reason I said she doesn’t need a CXR in this case because the diagnosis should be apparent without one. We don’t like to give x-rays and expose pts. to radiation unless it’s necessary. If for some reason the PCP will not be sure what he/she is dealing with, then they will order the imaging technique they feel is necessary. As a teenager, as nervous teenagers are, I had a cough that was lingering, the doc ordered a CXR. I remember thinking who knows what he thinks I have, ch’vs. I was petrified. Of course, it was negative.
Practioners: Talk to your pts. Let them know why you are doing things.
February 7, 2011 3:34 pm at 3:34 pm #738959aries2756ParticipantMy appointment with MY doc in NY when I was home a few weeks ago was cancelled because of the bad weather. I won’t be back till the first week in March. I was just recently diagnosed. I will tell you an interesting story. I don’t know how many people who are diagnosed take this seriously.
I went for endoscopy just a day after getting these results so just as an aside I told the anesthesiologist, “BTW, I just found out I have sleep apnea”. He didn’t seem concerned by said it was good I told him and he would keep and eye. I also repeated it to my Doctor.
When I woke up, I asked the anesthesiologist if there was any sign of sleep apnea, he said “Yeah you stopped breathing and we had to lower your dosage” I though he was teasing me so when the doctor came in I asked him as well. He said “It is a good thing you told us because you started to go sour and stop breathing we had to lessen the anesthesia to bring you back up”. I was really shocked.
February 7, 2011 3:42 pm at 3:42 pm #738960always hereParticipantOh. My. Goodness!!!! :/
February 7, 2011 3:52 pm at 3:52 pm #738961HealthParticipantB’H you told him, but it wouldn’t have made a difference, as far as if you would have stopped breathing totally, because that’s what anethesiologists do. Most operations they give you drugs that produce General Anethesia, which means they put you to sleep and stop your breathing. Then they breathe for you, with either a BVM or a respirator, with sometimes putting a tube into your trachea (windpipe). With the endoscopy, they usually don’t need or do GA; they just make you a little groggy.
Enough with teaching medicine -Go see a doctor!

February 7, 2011 9:46 pm at 9:46 pm #738965aries2756ParticipantGood call Health, the verdict is…….bronchitis that turned into a sinus infection. Antibiotics prescribed – Avelox. And to take Vick’s Dayquil/Nyquil.
So here is the question. How do you keep your bronchitis from turning into a bacterial infection?

Sounds like a riddle.
Q: How do you keep your bronchitis from turning into a bacterial infection?
A: Tell it to look where it’s going.
Feel Good!
February 8, 2011 12:35 am at 12:35 am #738968yankdownunderMembermbachur- Almost everybody needs Vitamin D. I live Down Under which may receive more Sunlight than Miami. One needs to take Vitamin D3,Calcium/Magnesium, and Omega3 Fish Oils. All these Supplements must be Kosher certified. Summer one needs less Vitamin D3,because you can go outside during certain hours of the day and receive a nice Natural dose of Vitamin D. All the Supplements I mentioned above are good for the Immune System and more.

You’re not the first one I diagnosed on YWN, but you are the first that has confirmed it. TaDa!
To stop a bronchitis from developing some complication -Daven. Seriously only Hashem can really stop it, but you can make Histadlus which will help. All the things that I’ve and everyone else posted on how to take care of bronchitis will help prevent complications. Ya’know- lots of fluids, use of humidifier, rest
(No running after grandkids), etc…

Health–I think you should start a CR FREE REMOTE DIAGNOSIS THREAD–Aries said you got it right!
February 8, 2011 4:02 am at 4:02 am #738974HealthParticipanteclipse – I already do and have been doing so since I came here!
I found a web site called “kooldocs”, that doctors practice medicine over the web, but they charge $100. If someone can’t get out to get a prescription, maybe it’s worth it.
February 8, 2011 4:05 am at 4:05 am #738975eclipseMemberSo I was Michaven to kooldocs!
February 8, 2011 4:12 am at 4:12 am #738976HealthParticipanteclipse – I found means I located, not started. I have nothing to do with them. There are quite a few telemedicine sites out there.

February 8, 2011 3:43 pm at 3:43 pm #738978☕️coffee addictParticipanthealth, maybe you can help me out
I think my kid (16 months old) doesn’t have a stomach virus, i think the reason he threw up recently is because at times he coughs so hard he throws stuff up the doc said his lungs are fine (when we came the first time she gave amoxicillan and he was better until 2 days later when he started coughing again) she said it could be post nasal is there anything i should do besides suctioning and saline drops
February 8, 2011 4:26 pm at 4:26 pm #738979HealthParticipantmbachur – A couple of questions -Did he have all his shots when he was an infant? Can you describe the way the cough sounds?
How is his appetite? How many times did he throw up Today? Does he have diarrhea, runny nose, congestion, fever or any other symptoms, Today? Did he finish all antibiotics?
A humidifier or warm vaporizer at night is a must. Increase fluids that he drinks.
When you get back to me with the answers, I’ll see what else can be done.
February 8, 2011 4:57 pm at 4:57 pm #738980☕️coffee addictParticipanti think so
like he’s gagging on something
idk i dont think so good
none yet
idk abt the diarrhea he made an ok amount and it was wierd part brown part reddish brown
he has a runny nose and congestion
yes he finished the antibiotics
we did use a warm vaporizer and even the vicks vapor thingy, but he was still coughing (maybe not as much)
Thanks!

Sounds to me (a total non expert) that you should bring him back to the doctor.
Aries, how are you feeling?
February 9, 2011 1:29 am at 1:29 am #738984☕️coffee addictParticipantI was there yesterday and they said what health said, i just wanted a second opinion from health
he hasn’t thrown up today which is good

February 9, 2011 2:03 am at 2:03 am #738985HealthParticipantKeep doing what you’re doing. If the kid is waking up in the middle of the night and kvetching, or feverish, you can give him some children’s Advil/Motrin. This lasts about 8 hours, so they (and you) will have a restful night. URI’s can last a few days to two weeks. You’ll get used to it – I did.

February 9, 2011 3:59 am at 3:59 am #738989aries2756ParticipantB”H, Resting all day today, did not sleep last night but caught up a little during the day. I refused to be budged out of bed today and did not talk today so I went into less coughing fits. I will take second antibiotic pill tonight so I hope I will be up and about tomorrow. Thanks for asking.
February 9, 2011 5:14 pm at 5:14 pm #738990HealthParticipantmbachur – How’s your kid doing today?
February 9, 2011 6:21 pm at 6:21 pm #738991☕️coffee addictParticipantI was just about to post that!
I have to stay at home with my kid today also, he still had diarrhea this morning, (looked yellowish) but other than that he’s fine.
I’m giving him florastor (kids)for it (that’s what his pediatrician told us to do)
if it’s an upper respritory infection it shouldn’t be doing this to him

I can guess -Let’s see -Why is there blood? Small amounts can be normal. Do I have to finish all medicine? Yes, on the antbiotics. No, on the quills -If you feel fine without the quills, stop taking them.
I’ll take a Brocha as a thank you.
