    They commence at Sundown.

    However:- If you pray an early Ma’ariv after Pleg haMincho:- Then the 9 days already commence from Ma’ariv, even prior to Sundown.

    147- and on yom haatzmaut, it starts whenever you want, cuz its made up anyway.

    My Shul holds the same as 147: I’m not positive about the Makor though.

    It is because of snide comments like yours Toi which was made to espouse Sinas Chinom, that tragically we are still in the Churban haBayis for 1943 years & going.

    Not Sinah; but rather Machlokes. And definitely NOT chinam!

    Either way, by now it is already the 9 days whatever the zmanis, unless you’re in Hawaii.

    midwesterner: Even if it’s machlokes, it had no point here other than to insult those who keep Yom Ha’Atzmaut. It definitely is not made up – as you said, it’s a machlokes, and there are many Rabbonim who keep it.

    Let’s not get into a debate during the 9 days about it.
