The following questions are being asked l’toeles. I was quite involved with the efforts to help Gimmel (Yahadus Ha’Torah/UTJ) get as many votes as possible, and found that some people seem unhappy with Gimmel. I would like to try to help the situation and therefore am asking these questions. Please answer only with kavanah l’toeles. (and only if you live in Eretz Yisrael).
1) Did you vote Gimmel, why, why not?
2) How do you feel about Gimmel’s publicity strategy, do you like their posters (etc.) or not? Why, why not?
3) What do you feel Gimmel could do to improve?
PLEASE, again, only answer with kavanah l’toeles!
January 23, 2013 12:48 pm at 12:48 pm #922869haifagirlParticipant1) I voted Gimmel because they were the best of a bad lot (the lesser of many evils, as it were).
2) I didn’t see all that many of their posters.
3) Include women.
January 23, 2013 2:06 pm at 2:06 pm #922870Torah613TorahParticipant1) I don’t live in Israel, but would have voted Gimmel
2) Don’t like their strategy. Would have voted anyway since my Rav and my family’s Rav tell us to.
3) They need to be more inclusive of BTs and more tolerant.
January 23, 2013 2:21 pm at 2:21 pm #922872zahavasdadParticipantNo, I dont live in Israel
If I did I would have voted for Otzma B’Yisroel or Habyit Hayahudi.
January 23, 2013 2:23 pm at 2:23 pm #922873Torah613TorahParticipantPBA is right, I said the wrong thing here.
It would be nice if the feeling was that they loved other Jews. Better? I am sure they do but it does not come across well.
January 23, 2013 2:40 pm at 2:40 pm #922874zahavasdadParticipantTolerence can mean different things to different people.
It is more tolerant and understandind to invite someone to your house for shabbos than throwing a stone a them. Its also more tolerant and understanding rather than tell someone I am learning and you pay for it, instead tell them I want to come to your house and learn with you (Or at least a Chavrusa over the phone)
January 23, 2013 3:01 pm at 3:01 pm #922875gavra_at_workParticipantPBA & ZD: Not the time & place. Let’s stick to the topic of the OP. If you would like, start a new thread.
January 23, 2013 3:21 pm at 3:21 pm #922876takahmamashParticipantI voted for Bayit HaYehudi. I’m not chareidi, so voting for Gimmel was never in my worldview. After checking the website that lists the number of votes by city/yishuv, I see there are no votes for Gimmel from the entire yishuv.
January 23, 2013 3:22 pm at 3:22 pm #922877popa_bar_abbaParticipantGAW: ok.
inEY: Perhaps the first question should be: Do you identify as ashkenazi chareidi?
January 23, 2013 3:29 pm at 3:29 pm #922878For the people who would consider voting Gimmel, there isn’t any alternative. Who else can they vote for that is remotely like Gimmel? Only Shas. So the Ashkenazim vote Gimmel and the Sefardim vote Shas. There isn’t much else to consider.
January 23, 2013 3:54 pm at 3:54 pm #922879Torah613TorahParticipantInEY, here are answers for 2 Israelis who I asked: They would both vote Gimmel, they like your campaign, there is nothing you can do to improve.
I didn’t tell them it was for an American website though.
