    coffefan- congrats!!

I went low on purim night and on purim day cuz at the seudah I thought I would eat much more than I did so I ended up drinking like 3 cups of orange juice!! I havent drank that much OJ in like 6 months put together..it was not fun!!!! especially cuz there was so much to eat but I was nauseaus from looking at food all day. so now two days later when I want to eat everything im high high high…

btw everyone im having someone from omnipod come to my house to show me all about the pump and im very excited!!!!! shes coming in two weeks iyh. Do u think I shld also have someone from minimed come just so that I know what each one is about? the thing is that im basically hooked on omnipod in either case so maybe thats just a waste of time

allsgr8- im sooooo excited for you!!!! and im also excited that some1 else is “hooked” on the omnipod… (am i the only one who thought the way you said it was HYSTERICAL… were hooked onto a pump get it?!? lol) a pump will totally change ur D for the better!!! i cant wait to hear what you think about it! i think that a minimed “person” wouldnt hurt cuz you never know what features they have/dont have/ will be coming out with etc. (as long as its a free consultation that is….) wtvr you chose i hope ur decision is easy and u get what you need!!

allsgr8- i very happy for you.

i am on the minimed and i like it. if you are looking for a remote the minimed does not have one, but aninimas does. i think if you get used to the size of the pod you will love it.

so go for it. keep on pumping!!! 🙂

coffefan- ha ha pun wasnt even intended!!

Maybe Ill call someone from minimed… i think ur right.

The thing is that my doc isnt so supportive of the omnipod. Not like shes against it but she doesnt see why I dont want the regular traditional pump..anyway, i think that shes starting to get on my nerves lately so maybe ill switch docs soon.

mi2- I did that but in the meantime I may as well have someone come down to the house..thanks! Are you on the omnipod? are u happy with it?

rebbitzen- oy I know the feeling! do u have any idea what it could be from?

allsgr8- if your not happy with ur doc u shld consider mine she’s soooo good!!!!

reb- i HATE when that happens!! any ideas why? sometimes the liver releases some glucose because it senses it needs it.(or something like that.. my doc mentioned that once but i dont really understand it…..) or could it be a pump malfunction?

i hope it went down and you feel better soon!!

reb- i have had that experience many times with my kids. i find that this happens near the time that i have to change their sets. its because the body blockes the site (as it would when closing a wouund) so it could be that’s what happened.

thanks guys!..it prob was a bad needle, cuz after i changed it, it went down bH. but i really hate to change my needle. I know its terrible, but sometimes, i do it once every six days! DONT SCREAM AT ME. i know its bad..but its sooo annoying, and it hurts! grrrr…you would think after having diabetes for 11 years, i’d get over it, but it really is hard!!!!!!!!

    #980316

Don’t you know that you have to change your site every 3 days?!

…yeah, you could think that after so many years with D you’d be used to it – but no go…Yup, my pump site can stay in for that many days or longer..

reb- did you try emla to numb the site before you put in your set?

    #980318

rebetzin- Frist of all, i’m a type 2 diabetic, non-insulin dependant. I read a book by Dr. Neal Barnard, Reversing Diabetes without Medication. It is a totally vegan diet. No meat, fish, chicken or anything that comes from them, like milk and eggs. Google the doctor’s name and you’ll get his organization. I had posted it but it was removed. If you want more details about the diet, I’ll be glad to share them with you. It took me quite a while to really try the vegan diet. First I tried a vegetarian diet. No meat, chicken or fish but eggs, cheese and milk. It worked a little, but not really well.

Now, I’m just dreading Pesach as I can’t eat my soy & kitniyos that I live on.

    Good Luck!

reb- i used to be the same way with my sites but now the omnipod forces me to change it every 2-3 days bec it uns out of insulin but i ttly understand how you feel! i feel that when i put in the sensor thats why i dont always put it in. i try to put some ice on it for a while and it COMPLETELY numbs it and i dont feel when it goes in! why dont you try it?

PrincessEagle- Welcome! you a type 1 Diabetic too?

hey reb i noticed on the “Anxiety” thread you were talking abt antianxiety pills. i hope im not being nosy and rude but does it have to do with ur D? do the pills affect ur sugar? (if im being too rude or pushy please disregard the question! i do not wanna make you feel uncomfortable in any way!)

    #980322

Yes, i’m type one… what are all of you here? i’ve only just recently discovered this forum! What age group are you all?

yes, rebbitzen, i am saying i can keep in my site (the canula – you keep the needle in all the time?) for 6 days… i end up changing it when it bothers me enough. You too when it bothers enough?

    #980323

princess- welcome! im glad you discovered us! lol

i am type 1 and my young 20s. so are rebbitzen and allsgr8. what about u? how long have you had D?

    #980325

Similar sort of age, had D for nearly 15 years already. What about you? Do you know each other…?

About changing your site, i think “they” do make a fuss on it but what they don’t know won’t harm them!

PrincessEagle- Hi and Welcome!! I am 21 and have D for 3+ years. None of us know eachother except by screenames..As a matter of fact I dont know anyone (girls that is) with Type 1..wish there was a way we could to get together in real life…

You should read back a couple of pages and get to know us! 🙂

princesseagle, i’m not sure what you are saying? what they dont know wont harm them? and i wasnt reffering to the canula of insulin in the pump (which is allowed to be there for 6 days), i’m talking about the actual infusion set (the needle)..

i have diabetes for a 9 years now. i also wish there was a way to meet…. i hate to admit it but i always wonder if we met eachother at some point but dont know it… like i sometimes think “maybe she’s allsgr8…. etc” lol

lol cofeefan! thats hysterical..the only prob is that you wouldnt know it was me cuz you wouldnt know I had D even if you met me! In either case, i hope that the people you are guessing are me are nice (and cute! jk)… Sometimes when I meet people I think they are someone in the CR but noone in the D support group cuz I look out for insulin pumps but dont encounter any lol

Thank you for your welcome! I’ve been following a non-frum diabetes forum, it’s sure way different than this!! Rebbitzen, do you keep a needle in you all the time? What pump are you on?

What about the rest of you? I’ve been reading the last pages like you said allsgr8 – sure been interesting reading!

… So when you’re gonna meet?!?!

I hope ur sister/brother gets engaged very soon iyh!!

Hum…Somebody mentioned about a yahoo mail link? R’Meisials? Just wondering, you do read the booklets he creates quarterly?

And, yes, i hope i won’t have to wait too long although once i’m on the market – i better have good control for any guy to consider me 🙂

princessEagle- You need to have good control for yourself dont wait until its time for a guy to come into the picture 🙂 (hopefully he’ll come into it soon but still..)

Rabbi meisels has a yahoo group he sends around emails/questions that ppl ask and anyone who’s part of the group can answer

I always look forward to the newsletters though!!

why do you doubt we’ll meet allsgr8?

princess- i get the newsletter but never really read them for some reason. as far as the questions u posted before- i am on the omnipod for 3 years now and i love it! what pump are you on? how do you like it? do people know abt ur D or do u keep it a secret?

cofeefan- just because whats the chance that we’ll meet and know that we’re eachother? I mean I WISH we could but just dont see it happening.. i really wish there was a way …

And btw about the newsletter, you should read the Pesach one cuz I wrote two articles in it!!! 🙂 They’re under a pen name but lets see if you can guess which ones I wrote.

thats sooo cool allsgr8!! which ones did you write?!?! i didnt get the pesach one!! and hello we forsure know eachother but bec we dont know its us and we both hide our D we wld never know lol!

I thought your not so secretive about your D..u sound like you think you know who I am..am I right? 🙂

I have absolutely no clue who you are..u happen to sound like one of my friends but I know your not her cuz shes older than u..and your just not her lol!

the pesach newsletter didnt come out yet probably in like 2 weeks or something ..im not saying which one i wrote that’s for you to guess!

    #980341

Allsgr8 – that really cool, can ya just write about any topic and send it in or what?! And how d’ya know it got in?? Many people surely send in things.. So do you write alot about D and other things??? (i have also had things i’ve written in there :-))

Is there no way you could find out each other’s emails or something??? Or wouldn’t you want that?!!?

I’m on the Animas 2020, i’m just grateful that i am on a pump because they didn’t want to give it to me at the beginning (that’s to answer how i like it!) and i just pray that i’ll stay on it because they’re about to take it away if i don’t get somewhat better control..

About keeping it a secret, since i was diagnosed when i was very young, my parents had to explain my behaviour!!! coming late to school etc. It was “officially” a secret but lots of people new…

Now i just take it that everybody CAN know but i HOPE they don’t all know! I have told friends and i would say if it’s necessary but now i try to “hold back” as much as possible..

Sorry if this post is too long!!!!

princessEagle- Rabbi Meisels sent around an email a while ago looking for writers so I emailed him that Id like to try it..he told me what to write about ..pretty vague though- write about Pesach and Type 1! SO I did and then they asked me to do another one they gave me the topic and a lot of the research for it and I put it together.. They’re both in the newsletter he showed me a preview 🙂

What did you write in there cuz i save all the newsletters 🙂

I never heard of an insurance wanting to take away the pump becuase someone is not in good control. That’s usually the reason they give it to begin with!

    What was your last HgA1c?

    #980343
    cofeefan

allsgr8- i have NO IDEA who you are i just always think maybe we do know eachother idk. and no im not so secretive but i dont flaunt it… lol i just think its funny how we live in the same place (i think…..) and we dont know eachother! i always wanted to know someone with type 1! and now i cant wait to see the newsletter so i could guess which ones you wrote! i hope i’ll be able to figure it out!

princess- where are you from that insurance would take it away? my insurance gives it to ppl with less control quicker than someone with good control! when i wanted to switch pumps we have to get letters with my higher a1cs signed by my dic etc.

    #980344

That’s really amazing.. so do you write often? Like just in general diary style / poetry / essay?? (if it’s personal than don’t answer! just wondering!) i look forward to seeing what you wrote!! When’s it coming out????

Yeah, they want to take my pump away because they said if my A1C isn’t coming down (which is my own doing 🙁 ) then it goes on the statistics… And the supplies are expensive so why should they pay for it?

    Next week they’ll do a re-check of my A1c..

coffeefan- lol where do you live? im from BP!! Also, I wrote under a pen name so its not gonna give me away ha ha :)-

princessEagle- I dont generally write, except for college ..essay type stuff. The articles I wrote for FWD arent THAT great. Theyre not personal, inspirational type theyre pretty factual and some tips and advice … I dont like the first one but the second one is pretty good I think. I think its coming out in like 2 weeks or something.

So, why do you find yourself slacking with ur numbers is it because your burnt out? were you always like this? are you going through a hard time? etc (dont havta answer if its personal!)

Rebbitzen- Yay!! I am so excited for you!! Please don’t be nervous it’ll all work out iyh. This is what I do (I think i said this once before but dont mind me if i repeat myself)

Firstly, I eat a supper that I know the exact amount of carbs-not one of those guess and test type.

I dont cover for the whole supper but almost all of it this way Im a little bit high so I dont have to worry about going low. Of course I always feel low before I leave the house becuase Im nervous but I know that its not a real low.

I’ve done it quite a few times and it worked out well every time bh! Try it! And may this be the right one iyh and it should go smoothly and clearly!!

Someone once told me, “If its the right one it should go quick and if its the wrong one ch’v it should go quicker!”

And btw for all of you out there that are nervous about telling a boy about your D dont worry so much its not that bad. Not that its easy but … I did it once on a forth date and the boy was totally shocked he almost didnt believe me lol He did not say no because of it. Actually him and his mother/fam said it was a reason to say yes not no! In the end it didnt work out for other reasons but it was all bashert and I got my practice so next time around I’ll really know what to say.

rebbitzen- YAY! will this be ur first date?! this is what i do… test like 30 min before ur supposed to leave. then make it go a little higher that way u have a bit of a “safe zone” if you drop ull dropp to normal. CARRY WINKIES/GLUCOSE TABS!!! if u feel shakey excuse urself to the bathroom and have some of those! as far as not being able to test… you never wwent 3 hours without testing?!? you’ll be fine! i have confidence in you!!!
