You’ve mentioned certain things about yourself over the time you’re here, and I may have figured you out. I’m not naming names (I’m not sure if its you, and also there was a thread a while back about outting people and one post had strong reasoning to keep quiet) but just wanted to say that it seems (to me) you want to keep the CR anonymous so you may want to think twice before revealing personal info (or figure-outtable info) even though no one knows you.
If you’re the person I’m thinking of, (and again, I’m not sure,) I (possibly) met you once and I don’t think you would know me.

How long was this one meeting and how extreme was the other person’s (ok, MY) behavior that you picked up and remembered enough details to be able to figure them (me) out?
the only thing kapusta could do now to freak ppl out even more would be to throw out names at members, like hey you hinda ploni.
If someone knows me well enough, they could figure me out from my posts. But it would take a lot of effort to string a lot of posts together. Dunno if it’s worth it!
OTOH, I don’t think I’ve posted anything to be horribly ashamed of, although my preference is for not being outed…
Since you replied mostly to my post, should I infer that you were directing this thread to me? Thank you for the warning. If I have given out such information, then it doesn’t bother me if people want to sit down and try to figure out if this is me. It is, though, more comfortable to sit down and post under a screenname, and if someone were to put my actual name here I would probably stop posting.

Most of you have never been to the middle of Canada, so I doubt that I have to worry about anyone knowing who I am. I am not ashamed of anything, nor do I regret anything that I have posted, so if I were ever outed, it wouldn’t bother me. In fact, my dream would be for us to get together – there are so many of you that I would love to meet.

A couple people figured out who I am. I was really surprised by people who didn’t.

If you really think you know who the person is, and know the name, why don’t you look them up in the phone book and call or write, or contact someone from that wedding for contact info?
I know a couple of people have figured out who I am here. My own fault, I used a name that people who really know me would recognize. But… we are all related anyway being that we are all yidden. Kapusta, have we met other than at Sinai?

My thoughts exactly. Actually, there are several people (both members and lurkers) who know who I am.
I thought a bit over shabbos on this thread. And I think it is entirely naive and silly of ANYONE in the CR to think that they can actually put a name to a screen user name of a CR member.
Its impossible. I think its just like wishful thinking , you know?
Its like you think you can be one up on another person so you start imaginging oh yeah, its my neighbor or that lady from shul.
Absolutely impossible. How many yidden live in NY? How many are leading in general similar lifestyles? In short how is someone going to figure out somebody when the answer to those 2 questions is A LOT!
kapusta- sorry but i dont know what you are talking about. dont have any aunts weddings that you can be talking about…. the last one got married many many years ago when i was a baby.
