February 12, 2009 5:34 am at 5:34 am #1082210moish01MemberBelev Echad, i don’t plan for the future – i live for the moment. that’s not gonna ever happen to me
areivimzehlazeh, if you dare daven that i break another bone you’re dead meat
Curious, my muscles are not mush nothing. there’s no way i’m gonna waste my life at therapy. i’ll be fine – sports is therapy anyway.
qwertyuiop, if i could live through it, you could too. (by the way i thought you just broke a finger. why the splint on your forearm?? what a drag.)
asdfghjkl, yeah i’m looking forward!
February 12, 2009 5:48 am at 5:48 am #1082211asdfghjklParticipantmoish01: he broke his wrist!!!
February 12, 2009 5:58 am at 5:58 am #1082212moish01Memberoh right! my bad. yeah i feel bad for qwertyuiop. except he doesn’t play ball all that often so what’s the big deal? jk!
February 12, 2009 7:35 pm at 7:35 pm #1082216amichaiParticipantmoish, do you really think you’ll be running around so soon? don’t wanna burst your bubble but you ain’t being realistic. it might take a couple weeks till you can run properly and you sure do not wanna get tackled too quickly. refua shlaima.
February 12, 2009 8:54 pm at 8:54 pm #1082221moish01Membermyshadow, but that wouldn’t be any fun, would it? actually, i hope they don’t!
February 12, 2009 11:37 pm at 11:37 pm #1082227qwertyuiopMembermoish: you were correct, i did break a finger, actually about 4 of them, but this time my wrist.$

February 26, 2009 7:41 am at 7:41 am #1082254asdfghjklParticipantanonymisss: yay your here too!!!
February 26, 2009 9:48 pm at 9:48 pm #1082256moish01Memberhey areivim i’m putting this here even though it’s been neglected for a while…
a pushed myself to daven mincha yesterday. i feel like it’s the worst thing i’ve done in a while. i walked away feeling like a piece of garbage (appreciate that i moderated it myself, mods!) it meant nothing to me. what a waste of time. seriously. i’m not just saying that. it’s so stupid to push myself when it’s empty.
(i remembered yaale v’yovoh though!)
February 26, 2009 10:20 pm at 10:20 pm #1082257Belev EchadParticipantok fine moish, so it left u feeling empty. so big whoop. there was nothing there, all emptyness and it was a big waste of time.
i can hear that.
except when you come up to shamayim, and they’re nearing the list of all the good things you’ve done, and are about to decree what level you’ll go to, and you are frantic, desperately trying to find something else….and then WOW!!!
you will be ECSTATIC when they find this. your schar, even for doing the mitzvah with no drive, no desire, and a whole lotta emptyness, STILL COUNTS.
so for now, it may not have been worth it. but who cares? we’re not living for now anyway. when u get up there, you’ll be glad you did it.
February 27, 2009 5:09 am at 5:09 am #1082259qwertyuiopMemberbelev echad: good answer!!$
February 27, 2009 5:35 am at 5:35 am #1082260kapustaParticipantmoish if I’m allowed to comment on anything regarding your spirituality anymore it has been said (supposedly even by R’ Chaim Kanievsky shlita) that no tefila, empty as you may think it is, is ever wasted, you helped someone, somewhere in the world and I for one, think that thats a wonderful use of time.
btw, this is possibly the reason that anshei kneses hagedolah wrote tefillos out, anyone know?
anonymisss your friends, good buddys, on the same side
February 27, 2009 6:58 am at 6:58 am #1082261asdfghjklParticipantBelev Echad: that was great!!!! well said!!!
February 27, 2009 2:06 pm at 2:06 pm #1082262SJSinNYCMemberi feel like it’s the worst thing i’ve done in a while
Is that true Moish? You can’t think of ONE worse thing than that? If so, you are truly a tzadik!
February 27, 2009 2:41 pm at 2:41 pm #1082263Belev EchadParticipantwow, thanks
February 27, 2009 3:09 pm at 3:09 pm #1082264anonymisssParticipantsjs, I think what moish means is that it made him feel very inconsistent, which is something that doesn’t go well with his honesty. Moish? Is that right?
~a~
February 27, 2009 4:52 pm at 4:52 pm #1082265areivimzehlazehParticipantmoish- just got to this. Are you satisfied with the answers given?
I think both of kapusta’s responses were on the mark- just don’t want anything stuffed down your throat. Air your thoughts
February 27, 2009 6:26 pm at 6:26 pm #1082266kapustaParticipantareivim? did a compliment from you to me somehow escape your computer into cyberspace and onto this thread where I could see it? something big must be happening today!!! jk
um both my responses? I only had one in there
March 2, 2009 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #1082268areivimzehlazehParticipantkapusta- do i really give the impression of hard to impress? I’m usually free with handing out compliments… or so I thought
March 2, 2009 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #1082269moish01Memberhey you’re not bad, areivim.
and i did answer here but for some reason it wasn’t posted so i’m gonna ignore and move on.
March 3, 2009 12:09 am at 12:09 am #1082270kapustaParticipantno its not that just that you havent completely re-earned your title after my mussar schmooze last week. see the mazel tov thread for more info
May 14, 2015 12:12 pm at 12:12 pm #1082271JosephParticipantSo yesterday my hat went missing at the office I was at before Mincha. Unfortunately I had to daven b’yechidus (in accordance with Rav Chaim).
May 14, 2015 12:39 pm at 12:39 pm #1082272☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy did you take it off to begin with?
Also, not having a hat isn’t a p’tur from tefillah b’tzibbur – after you get your hat, run and catch a minyan!
May 14, 2015 1:33 pm at 1:33 pm #1082273JosephParticipantWhy did you take it off to begin with?
Excellent question. The only reason was because the doctor didn’t let me lie down wearing it.
after you get your hat, run and catch a minyan!
It was the last minyan coming up. By time I got my other hat (it was embarrassing walking in public without a hat) my only choice was to make the zman b’yechidus.
May 14, 2015 1:59 pm at 1:59 pm #1082274☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantthe doctor didn’t let me lie down wearing it
How religiously insensitive. Time for a new doctor.
May 15, 2015 2:09 am at 2:09 am #1082275147ParticipantJoseph & DaasYochid:- Let’s get this straight once & for all:- Nothing ever gets in the way of commencing Tefillo b’Tzibur;
Certainly, not lack of a hat, and certainly pray Mincho before sunset without a hat, rather than after sundown with a hat; Certainly never ever arrive late to Shacharis, but always come at least 5 minutes early, so that you have Tallis & Tefillin on before Shacharis commences, so can get up to Tefillo b’Tzibur without skipping:- Only thing that can possibly be skipped at Shacharis is a hat by dint of your Tallis on your head.
If running to catch a Minjan is going to put you out of breath and jeopardize your health or state of mind, forgo the hat to have time to walk biMenuchas Nefesh, but don’t ever risk missing Tefillo b’Tzibur for any lame duck reason such as a hat.
May 15, 2015 2:43 am at 2:43 am #1082276☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantlame duck reason
Interesting phrase.
Anyhow, it’s a machlokes haposkim.
May 15, 2015 2:53 am at 2:53 am #1082277Yosi7MemberJoseph- Is rav Chaim your posek anymore than rav Sheinberg or rav Shmuel Aurbach (both of whom say minyan is better)?
May 15, 2015 3:24 am at 3:24 am #1082278JosephParticipantMy posek follows Rav Chaim on this.
May 15, 2015 11:34 am at 11:34 am #1082279NechomahParticipantJoseph, did you find the hat at the doctor’s office?
May 15, 2015 11:52 am at 11:52 am #1082280JosephParticipantNechomah, it turns out someone moved it to a closet. I retrieved it the next day. (I felt slightly conspicuous wearing one hat on my head and holding another in my hand as I walked the streets.)
May 15, 2015 1:22 pm at 1:22 pm #1082281☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy? Are you not proud of the uniform of a ben Torah?
May 15, 2015 1:33 pm at 1:33 pm #1082282JosephParticipantOf course. I was proud to wear my hat on the street, especially so on a hot day. It was the second hat in my hand that was conspicuous since if someone saw me holding that before he noticed I was already wearing one, he may have momentarily thought why wasn’t it on the head where it belonged.
May 15, 2015 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm #1082284☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’m shocked that you’d be so careless about maris ayin. You should have put it in a bag.
May 15, 2015 2:25 pm at 2:25 pm #1082286JosephParticipantThank you for the mussar. I’m mekabel it.
May 16, 2015 9:38 pm at 9:38 pm #1082287takahmamashParticipantAre you not proud of the uniform of a ben Torah?
Perhaps you meant to say “one possible uniform of a ben Torah.” I know many bnai Torah who do not wear hats.
May 17, 2015 4:10 am at 4:10 am #1082288Rebbe YidParticipantJoseph: Just out of curiosity, what style of hat do you wear?
May 17, 2015 4:52 am at 4:52 am #1082289JosephParticipantFedora. But I’m thinking of going Homburg.
May 18, 2015 2:25 am at 2:25 am #1082290Rebbe YidParticipantYes, the fedora is quite en vogue among yidden. How did you happen to choose it?
I like the Homburg, but only if it doesn’t curl up too much on the sides.
