I really want one. Having a dash camera in case of an emergency seems like a good idea.

A hit and run where the persons car is totally unusable
My car was once hit by a guy who ran a red light. After the crash, he apologized, saying he hadn’t seen the red light. Apparently he changed his tune, because his insurance company denied he was totally to blame. I wish I had had a dash cam to provide irrefutable evidence.
YY: Why didn’t you get a police report where he must give a statement to the officers at the scene?
He didn’t speak much English, so the police got minimal information from him. I had a witness who spoke to my insurance company but it didn’t seem to help. I guess my insurance company thought it wasn’t worth the effort to fight with the other guy’s insurance company.
