I don’t know who is planning on going, but as someone who has been through a ton of stuff this year, I have some seminary advice that would be useful.
Regardless of what I have thought of various seminaries I have been at this year, or ones I looked into, the reason that any seminary is around is because they are meant to cater to a specific group of girls. For example, Brovenders is catered to Modern Orthodox Girls who are very smart and possibly will go on to Ivy League Colleges after their year here, and want to learn in a Bais Midrash with girls from all over the world (I am saying this because I am half in Brovenders…). Since I have a bit more Bais Yaakov hashkafos, I find myself a bit stressed at times and find it difficult to be here. However, that does not mean that this is not a good school. It simply means that it is not my type of school, and I need to keep that in mind while I am here.
I mean, you should 100% go to the seminary that is for your hashkafa, and caters to your academic needs, however, the most important things that you need to look into when selecting a seminary are:
1. Hashkafa.
2. How academic is it?
3. Free time.
4. Are they strict with things such as curfew? Dress code (if you aspire to be in a bais yaakov environment, but are having issues with tznius, are you going to be ok. On the other hand, if you dress a certain way, is this school a place that will make sure other girls dress the way you do based on how much/ what the dress code is/ enforced?).
5. What are your goals for the year?
6. Do you know anyone who went there that loved it that can tell you if it is the right place for you?
I hope this helps.
