Deli 52 burned down and I guess it is not rebuilt yet – I think the news about the fire can be found in the YWN archives.

LOL@me being the YWN editor – I’m 7 time zones away from where YWN is edited (and I’m not in EY either so that there is NO WAY I could put together a site like this)!

awesome, I can only try. you deliver or should i wake up my dad? he might not kill me if there’s enough for him too…

    #647019

hey icot u just reminded me of country yossis cholent song —cholent cholent chachacha cha chalent…..

    #647020

    2nd stanza:

“some like it hot, some like it cold

some like it in the pot, covered in mold” 🙂

    ames-

When I have a pot that has burned or baked-on cholent, stew, or soup, I find that letting water sit in it overnight makes most of the stuff come right off with minimal fuss. Of course, scrape it out over the toilet, unless you have a garbage disposal in the sink.

    moish01-

Sorry, I’m not into cholent much. I’ll enjoy a good one, but it’s not one of my favorite foods.

    coke not pepsi-

I haven’t heard that song in 20 – 25 years, and probably still know it by heart.

“cholent is the name, heartburn is its game, it looks so innocent it’s deadly just the same…”

ames- trying letting it soak with baking soda and water overnight. It should come right off.

Moish- I have the remains of Vegatarian chulent from Shabbos if your interested in starting a new batch for your next concuction.

As far as men making chulent,( What is it with men, Chulent & Barbque??!!) My husband tells his famous chulent story in his Bachelor days. It involved everything!! Hot dogs, split peas, Ketchup, Potatoes, paprika, garlic. He said it was the best tasting chulent he ever had.

Chulent and Bar-B-Que = Man’s Claim to fame.

ames; ha—tell me about this bag!!! please!!! what country do i need to smuggle it in from???? ok so here’s what i know, the bags have chemicals & are really dangerous!!!(i won’t bore you with personal story—i had a bad experience with the bag!!!! why don’t you just dump what’s left in the pot right away & store it in the dishwasher till motzei shobbos???? then right when shobbos is over ya put the soap in da dishwasher & magic-it gets cleaned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ames, you should definitely use the bag. It ruins the flavor a little bit, but it’s better than not making cholent at all.

If you’re willing to clean out the pot right away, it would be easy. But days later? Yuck. I personally use a teflon crockpot (when I make it cholent, which is rare to never these days) and I pregrease the teflon coating with a thin layer of oil (wet a napkin with oil and wipe the surface with it). Nothing ever sticks.

ames. i asked that question before to my rav but only asked it regarding soaking the pot in water. He told me i could put it in my sink and whenever people wash their hands for whatever reason the water will fall into it

    For those without dishwashers:

I heard that if you burn the food in the pot, the easist way to clean it is to put in the powdered dish washer soap and soak the pot for a while in hot water. I have tried this and the burnt parts come out much easier than just using regular dish soap.

    Rosh Yeshiva,

I think we should schedule the luncheonette for Thursdays starting this week. People are too busy on Friday.

    Moish,

I want a full can of Dr. Pepper this time.
