Nearly everything discussed on this thread is relative. Whether or not someone here speaks to the opposite gender in real life or online and whether that’s ok or not depends on who the person in question is. So undoubtedly, if someone feels that the Coffee Room is an issue, (s)he should not be on here. For people who do not speak to the opposite gender in real life, whether or not they do on this thread is up the person to decide what’s best for them and what fits with their personal hashkafa. Luckily, the Coffee Room is appropriately moderated and everything here is kept within reason. A possible question would be, however, if because this is a Yeshivish-run website, if it is appropriate for them to give this impression to users that inter-gender (even within these boundaries) communication is permissable or not.
I think there should be a thing that before u get accepted TO coffee room the mods have to verify who u are…I would totoally DO that
It makes me uncomfortable talking to men if
I don’t even know if they are married or not.
But once you know it’s one or the other,
do you then become equally comfortable?
If not, which situation is more comfortable?
Sounds like you all think the CR is basically a dating website.
