December 26, 2010 3:03 pm at 3:03 pm #722164☕️coffee addictParticipantMazal Tov!
I’m just starting my master’s program for an MBA with a focus in accounting so can’t really help you there
Hatzlacha!
What do you think, if i got into the MBA program using undergraduate courses and my yeshivas BTL is it going to take a really long time to sit for my CPA exam?
December 26, 2010 3:24 pm at 3:24 pm #722165good.jewMemberFirst of all, take the CPA ASAP, because the longer you work, the harder it will be to find time to study. Second, set aside time every day (even a half hour or an hour) and make sure you study. (I used to wake up early and study in the morning)

December 26, 2010 3:44 pm at 3:44 pm #722167cshapiroMemberhow tho? read gleims review? take a class?
December 26, 2010 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm #722168GeshmakManParticipantTake a course, pay for Becker, they have great materials and breakdown the focal points for you. But you MUST use the stuff!!
Also, it comes down to this, there are three things in life for you now, Work, Life, and CPA Exam – pick two 🙂
Pass it now, don’t delay, I have many co-workers that are always “just finishing” it for years. Pass it and be done!
Hatzlacha!
December 26, 2010 4:21 pm at 4:21 pm #722169cshapiroMemberi guess i chose cpa exam and work…long story there….but do u prepare and then schedule the exam? does sequence matter?
December 26, 2010 4:56 pm at 4:56 pm #722170cshapiroMemberand is there a difference in courses, beckers, gleims, rogers???
December 26, 2010 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #722172good.jewMemberTalk to people that took it recently to see which course is best, but you should certainly take a course. The one I took does not exist, but I think the teachers (who were really good) went to Becker.
December 26, 2010 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm #7221731987ParticipantI just finished the exams. Definitely do Becker – it is the best out there. I passed all 4 on my first try. One you register for an exam, you have 6 months to take it. You must pass all 4 within 18 months, so I suggest you take Financial first. It is on the most material, so it will take you the longest amount of time to study. The 18 months start ticking from when you pass your first exam. Good luck!
December 26, 2010 8:14 pm at 8:14 pm #722174Baruch BohmParticipantRoger has a very energetic style that I would imagine would keep the material interesting. Never took the course but did have an opportunity to meet him. Hatzlacha!

December 27, 2010 8:45 pm at 8:45 pm #722176KayMemberLook at the way you learn best and then pick a course which gives you the study tools you need and is cost effective. CPAexcel (www.cpaexcel) has more study tools than any other course and allows you to pick the ones which will support the way you learn best. This way, you aren’t paying for study aids which you don’t need. Smart? Yes.
Suggestions:

2. Researchers at the National Training Laboratories in Bethel, Maine, found that:
CPAexcel gives you active learning (you can drill with over 5,700 past CPA Exam questions and get instant feedback) and interactive learning (Online Student Discussions on each lesson, a small part of each section) and Professor Mentoring–you can get help any time you wish and participate in professor-led discussions.
CPAexcel is:
1. about 1/2 the cost of Becker
2. has a pass rate of 87% since 2004
3. NEVER charges extra for electronic updates to software and content–you get unlimited updates until you pass, whenever that is. One student has been with CPAexcel since 2002 survived a family crisis, Hurricane Katrina AND recently passed her 4th. section. Other courses would have charged her $500 per section every 18 months to keep going. CPAexcel never charged her a dime.
Add it up! CPAexcel is great way to go!
And, get the exam done now before life intervenes. Much easier that way! 🙂

December 28, 2010 3:58 pm at 3:58 pm #722180yeshivaguy1Participantmbachur, you are in an MBA program using a BTL? I am looking into getting an MBA can you tell me more. Is your school a top ten. Don’t they require work experience usually to accept you. What did you have that they accepted you (high Gmat etc.)
December 28, 2010 5:27 pm at 5:27 pm #722181CharlieSmallMemberBoy am I old, I used Person Wolinsky for CPA prep, guess they aren’t around anymore.
December 28, 2010 5:36 pm at 5:36 pm #722182ProfessionalMemberBeckers Classroom is great. you need to work hard, but its a great course. would your employer pay for it? even if not- take it, and not a CD. Sit in class, in Manhattan! Best instructors!

I actually got into keller in florida with an exception (It took a looong time and was a little hard to get), a got a 4 in yeshiva (sort of a joke) and i took some undergraduate courses in Miami Dade College and got basically good grades, so they are accepting me on condition i get a 3.5 average on my first two courses and i got on A- on my first class so we’ll see how i do on this one
