Government watches zip codes and neighborhoods. Jews are often a tightly connected community but not always a separate zip code.
With the nature of this virus, there could be times when there are no infections in a particular community, but then it is enough for one case to come in and it moves quickly through the community.
If we were able to get early warnings when COVID comes into a community, people should be able to start taking more precautions faster and not wait until hospitals are full 2-3 weeks later.
I know some schools provide info to parents when they have to close fully or some classes, but this information goes only to parents and is not concerned with effects on other parts of the community.
Does your community provide any such warning system? Who does it, or could do it? Hatzolah? big shuls? large yeshivas? local doctors?
What should go into such a system? info about people who tested or just suspected? shold we do our own community tracing without waiting for the government? how to protect personal info?
