Maybe its because the YWN only looks at the AP for news or they are straight-up democrat hacks, but Democrat controlled NYS has a bill in place to put anyone who is deemed a health risk e.g. those who don’t want the covid vaccine into detention camps. You askonim whoever votes or supported a democrat candidate should be ashamed of yourselves. Just listen right? What’s going to be your response? Comply so we don’t make the situation worse like every soft leader we have?
January 5, 2021 1:21 pm at 1:21 pm #1935530hujuParticipantI have not heard about a proposal in the New York state legislature to put Covid-19 vaccine refusers into detention camps, except for the post by lakewhut. Detention camps (for anything other than prisons for properly prosecuted and convicted criminals) are utterly unacceptable to this Democrat, and surely many other Democrats, not to mention all democrats.
January 5, 2021 2:45 pm at 2:45 pm #1935569emes nisht shekerParticipantHe is referring to a bill sponsored by Assemblyman Nick Perry (fyi, there are a total of 150 Assemblymen in NY), which he has sponsored in one form or another each year since 2015. It has never made it out of committee.
The thing is lakewhut is lying about the bill, because there is simply no provision in there to detain anyone for refusing a vaccine. You can only be detained under that bill if you are a “Case”, “Carrier”, or “Contact” that is a serious health risk to the public.
Whatever, that bill has never made it out of committee, but naturally lying cons will take anything and everything to try to make Democrats look bad. Truth is irrelevant to them.
January 5, 2021 2:45 pm at 2:45 pm #1935562se2015ParticipantOP might be referring to a proposed bill (A11179) in the assembly to add a public health law provision mandating covid19 vaccines.
Text of the proposed law would provide in part as follows:
2. ONCE THE UNITED STATES FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION’S CENTER FOR
BIOLOGICS EVALUATION AND RESEARCH AND THE NEW YORK STATE CLINICAL ADVI-
SORY TASK FORCE HAVE APPROVED THE SAFETY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF A COVID-19
VACCINATION AND PROMOTION AND DISTRIBUTION PLANS OF SUCH VACCINE HAVE
BEGUN PURSUANT TO THE DEPARTMENT’S COVID-19 VACCINATION ADMINISTRATION
PROGRAM, IF PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS DETERMINE THAT RESIDENTS OF THE
STATE ARE NOT DEVELOPING SUFFICIENT IMMUNITY FROM COVID-19, THE DEPART-
MENT SHALL MANDATE VACCINATION FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS OF INDIVID-
UALS WHO, AS SHOWN BY CLINICAL DATA, ARE PROVEN TO BE SAFE TO RECEIVE
SUCH VACCINE.
3. ANY INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS RECEIVED A MEDICAL EXEMPTION FROM A LICENSED
MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL SHALL NOT BE MANDATED TO RECEIVE THE COVID-19
VACCINE AND SHALL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION.January 5, 2021 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm #1935576se2015ParticipantWe don’t have to call them detention camps. We can call them covid communes. Whatever the name, it would serve an important human rights purpose: covid-deniers and anti-vaxers who insist that their fundamental right to control their bodies means they have a right to participate in society while potentially spreading a highly contagious and deadly virus to others even if immunization is safe, available and free, can do just that. With each other. Everyone else has a right to participate in society without having to worry if 95% effective means there’s a small but still significant chance that they can still get infected from the selfish human rights activist breathing on their face.

I want to understand this liberal “logic”.
A woman has a “right to choose” to murder her unborn/partially born infant. But that same woman (or man) cannot choose to forgo a vaccine?January 5, 2021 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #1935621se2015ParticipantHakatan,
You drew the parallel, so you explain it to me.
Are you saying:
a) a woman SHOULD NOT be allowed to choose an abortion and the same woman SHOULD NOT be allowed to choose to forgo a vaccine, or
b) a woman SHOULD be allowed to choose an abortion and the same woman SHOULD be allowed to choose to forgo a vaccine
I don’t remember discussing abortions in CR, but I get the impulse to make sure we’re all morally consistent.
January 6, 2021 9:14 am at 9:14 am #1935679rightwriterParticipantThe bill allows even those who are “suspected” of being a carrier or danger can be placed into these camps. The ball will only roll downhill from there.
If anyone doesn’t understand how dangerous it is that they even proposed this bill then you have no idea what’s going on here in this past year. This is how the covid camps would start. Do you think nazi takeover happened overnight? Do you think they went straight for the Jews? No. It was a systematic preparation and propagandists fear and brainwashing of society and to make the fellow neighbors turn on each other.
They have already done this in nyc encouraging civilians to report people without a mask on, to get covid exposure apps, report gatherings and so on. This is happening as we speak. They are trying to push mandatory vaccines and in many things it already is such as certain airlines, schools, hospitals, office spaces and it will only get worse. Now covid camps? Does anyone really think this is still “for your safety”?
They are aggressively going for more and more control and even if you aren’t a conspiracy believer, I would say at this point there is no denying that there is some sort of new world order takeover here and taking away people’s freedom all over the world.
Just think about hearing the words camps, facilities together with people being forcefully taken to them. 2021 and we thought it can never happen again.
January 6, 2021 9:16 am at 9:16 am #1935732jdf007Participantemes nisht sheker ‘s comment can be translated to this tired philosophy I keep seeing. Just because a couple of Democrats keep advocating for something insane to be passed, doesn’t mean the entire party is toxic. But if it’s rumored one Republican said something, even when it never happened, the whole party and all of it’s voters must be banished.
Enough of the excuses. most of histories worse policies and bills were told to never have a chance, but did.

Not at the time of a disease outbreak. Jacobson vs. Massachusetts 1905.
