I have a product line that my supplier assures me is authentic but I suspect that it isn’t. My customers haven’t complained, but is there a halachic issue with selling it?
Call the real manufacturer and ask them how to tell the difference and if they are fake tell them about your supplier.
In answer to your question If they are not real I would think it would be a halachic issue, but i do not no that for a fact, but if it was me it would make me uncomfortable.
Even if it works just as well as the “real” thing, both government law and the customers reliance or you to provide authentic goods would create many issues. Counterfeit goods usually are inferior to the real thing, but not always, so if it is counterfeit there is reason to worry.
It is my store. I have had a few complaints but only one of them seemed valid and one item was slightly different from the companies stock photos but I do not have theirs to compare it to (no local stores stock it) They are Tweezerman items. I tried several times to contact Tweezerman but they won’t even call or email me back so I can’t authenticate them that way. The supplier has told me who the other customers are and they seem legitimate. Any flaws that I have noticed are more in line with seconds. So I guess they are more Grey Market than Black Market goods. I originally thought the reason I was getting such a good price was because these items are seconds that are supposed to be recast. The factory is in the right location and the quality seems up to the standard. Thank you!
