So everyone except the internet knows that there are two types of corn flakes in the world, and it is odd that they have the same name.
Kelloggs vs. Total. They taste different, and are presumably made differently. I think that Kellogs is made with milledcorn while Total is made with cornmeal.
I like Total. I hate Kellogs. Because the total ones taste good, whereas the Kellogs ones taste bad. It’s that simple.
So I have two questions:
1. How come the internet doesn’t know about this (until now)?
2. I want a list of which generic ones follow which method. (Just read the label, well, I want to order online maybe, and besides, I only just figured out the difference in ingredients.)

It never asked me. Also, I don’t think Total is made from corn; I think from wheat.

I’m pretty sure the vast majority are from cornmeal.

January 26, 2014 10:36 pm at 10:36 pm #1000709TheGoqParticipantYou are just eating the Kellogg’s corn flakes wrong what you do is you pour a bowl add a little milk and then take a box of corn flake crumbs from one of the cupboards of one of your wives and sprinkle liberally and top with sugar and some more milk.
January 26, 2014 10:38 pm at 10:38 pm #1000710writersoulParticipantNever heard of Total, but every type of off-brand cornflakes I’ve ever had has tasted roughly like Kellogg’s. (I personally think that’s a good thing, but…)
January 27, 2014 2:05 am at 2:05 am #1000711oomisParticipantTotal makes both wheat flakes and Corn Total (like corn flakes). The mailah (supposedly) of Total cereals (which include a raisin bran, and some other type as well, I think), is that all Total cereals purport to give the person who eats a bowl of it, 100% of the daily vitamin requirements of most vitamins and many minerals. hence the name “Total.” Whether or not the claim is true, i think their cereal is delicious.
January 27, 2014 3:23 am at 3:23 am #1000712HaLeiViParticipantYou had to have been aware of the difference between corn meal and corn flour. There is supposed to be a difference in Brachos based on that.
January 27, 2014 5:02 am at 5:02 am #1000713writersoulParticipantGoq: To go off topic, I never understood the inyan of putting sugar on cereal. I first discovered this in camp and was dumbfounded to see otherwise sane girls dumping spoonfuls of sugar on their rice krispies.
I’ve always eaten my cereal plain. Whence does this minhag come?
January 27, 2014 5:10 am at 5:10 am #1000714oyyoyyoyParticipantbig minhag, i think it started when in the haim people ate sweet cereal -trix, cocoa puffs etc.- and when they go to yeshiva or whatever they get served cheap tasteless healthy cereaso in order to get it down they add a spoonful (yeh right) of sugar. thatll get anything down
