A man was watering his garden in a very strange way. He would walk up to each plant, pour a cup of water over it, and then carefully dry it with a towel. He did this in a spiral motion around and into his garden.
Another man walked up and asked why he was doing this. “Come closer,” said the first man, “you’ll see why!”
The guy walked over to the gardener and says, “I still don’t see why!”. The gardener poured the entire bucket of water over his head, following it with the fertilizer. “I’ve been waiting for this revenge for ten years. Ten years I have been watering my garden in a spiral, wiping each plant with a towel, waiting for you to come by, walk closer, and get fertilizer poured over your head.”

One possible nimshol: How pathetic is the person who, r”l, is so focused on avenging a perceived wrong as to squander even 10 years of their valuable lives in the petty pursuit of that goal. HaShem yerachem!

A tale of foolish behavior can’t get by on merely the moral of “Foolish behavior is foolish.”

Or, if there is no parallel to something else, the story
    isn’t a parable, but… a fictional cautionary tale?
