September 15, 2009 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm #1109029mepalMemberReally depends on the brand. Also, you can get packs to last 6 month, a year etc.
September 15, 2009 11:57 pm at 11:57 pm #1109030d aMemberames, why do you want to wear only one lens?
Sometimes, if you wear only one lens your other eye will stop functioning the correct way because it is depending on the eye with the lens.

No one ever knew for sure why the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZYA told people not to wear contacts, who he told not to wear them, and whether this still pertains today. I choose to believe that it still does at least for men because the reasoning given was that it is something worn by women to improve their appearance whereas for men glasses are not considered a minus (and even this seems to refer to an earlier time, probably the 70’s or early 80’s when the question was originally asked, whereas others believe the Rebbe was referring to earlier, unsafe contact lenses).
Had I ignored the Rebbe’s advice and switched to contacts, I would not have a functioning right eye today. I was (improperly) using Liquid Plumr gel to unclog a porcelain kisse hakovod 3 years ago before Pesach and splashed some onto my right eyeglass lens instead of into my eye. Damage – it ruined the anti-reflex coating on my lens. The damage if my eye would not have been protected with glasses (and believe me I would not have worn goggles under the circumstances) – blindness or loss of the eye.
Sometimes, emunas tzaddikim pays even if the reason doesn’t seem to hold anymore.
Incidentally I never even knew that the coating on my eyeglass lens was damaged by the chemical until someone told me repeatedly to wash my perfectly clean but apparently seemingly dirty glasses 2 years later.
September 16, 2009 4:00 am at 4:00 am #1109032postsemgirlMemberI got glasses in 11th grade and before that I always tried to imagine what it would be like to look at the world and everything would be blurry. But now I always try to imagine what the world would look like without it being blurry. Eyes are amazing! You don’t realize it untill you can’t see perfectly. It’s a shame because we really take it for granted.

September 17, 2009 8:12 pm at 8:12 pm #1109036mom12ParticipantR U saying u r nearsighted with one eye and farsighted with the other? Don’t u get a haedache? I sometimes have to walk around with one lens till I can either clean and put back in or maybe it’s just out of place and I cant fix it right away……………
September 17, 2009 8:21 pm at 8:21 pm #1109037FunnyBunnyMembermom12- I know your question wasn’t addressed to me, but… I AM nearsighted in 1 eye and farsighted in the other. I don’t have contacts but I do wear glasses and even with those I still get headaches.
November 4, 2015 8:01 am at 8:01 am #1109039👑RebYidd23ParticipantContact lenses help people see better than glasses do, and nowadays glasses are almost jewelry. People see better in lenses and look better in glasses.
