I think we can all agree that there are those times we want to just read the news without reading someone else’s two-cents, and get so frustrated that we feel the need to reply, but can’t bring ourselves to condescend to a faceless hack that may be a profligate vagabond for all we know.
Moreover, and this may not ring with the readers of the coffee room, there is a real need for a purely-news site, where we, and our families, can get the information without stumbling into opinions which are foreign to Torah values, as imbued and instilled in us in our yeshivos (anyone remember what YWN abreviates?!?).
In essence this is a call to the editors of this news outlet, to provide this service. I call upon fellow readers to rally enough support for this endeavor, that will make it expedient for the editors/owner(s) to pursue it.

February 17, 2015 3:07 pm at 3:07 pm #1060249TheGoqParticipantYou don’t have to scroll down past the end of the article its all about will power.

February 17, 2015 4:07 pm at 4:07 pm #1060251Y.W. EditorKeymasterWe have a brilliant idea for you. Don’t read the comments. Hows that for a brainstorm?
No need to scroll down past the few ads that are act as a “mechitza” before the comments that you are so bothered by.

February 17, 2015 7:29 pm at 7:29 pm #1060253Daya ZoogerMemberYou all addressed only the first point, if poorly. The second point remains, and is anyhow the main point. The reason I say that your responses do not address even the first point very adequately is that someone who is leisurely perusing the news will not be focusing on not looking at the comments. Arguing on this point is denying the basic premise on which the entire advertising industry is established.
The reason I say that the second point (and I’m not convinced that anyone in the c.r. can relate to this point, but I am sure that it resonates with many of the general news readership) was not addressed is, we don’t want to put ourselves or our children in a situation where we need to exercise control.
Arguing with this point is denying the basic premise on which this website was established.

February 18, 2015 3:07 am at 3:07 am #1060256OURtorahParticipantDZ- THere is no growth if you try to shut yourself from the world. Other people exist outside of you. It’s important to understand this so that you know your strong within your own ideas. If you feel that you need to exercise control then you might need to reconsider strengthening your views so you don’t get offended by other people here.
If you truley believed what you were doing is right then you wouldn’t worry about seeing other people’s ideas. If I ever get that far I just brush off their opinions at the bottom of the articles. Who cares what other people say, I know where I stand im strong in my conviction and love to hashem and torah. That’s all that matters. You can’t change everyone around you.
