I’m looking into graduate programs in the psychology field, and am wondering if someone can perhaps enlighten me on the following:

What is the average salary of a clinical psychologist in Israel, who is not working privately? I would really like to live in Israel, beH; is it worthwhile financially to invest so much into a masters and doctorate?

Is there any field or opportunity, whether in psychology or social work, that is geared specifically towards working with children with special needs one on one? That would really be my preferred field.

Being that I would like to live in Israel after I get married, is it worthwhile to make aliyah now, as a single, to receive my education for free? This is more opinion rather than factual; I would like to know what you think of the pros and cons of this are.

If you can provide any sort of guidance or illumination on any of the above, I would be most grateful. Thank you!

Some things you should know. No one goes into psychology to make money. If you look at all of the job statistics websites, psychology careers do not pay a lot, maybe they might pay an average salary. Maybe.

A psychology salary in israel is probably even less than in the usa.

So why do people invest money into psychology? It is because they are stupid or want to help people, and this is the best way to help people.

I do not know of any special fields for special needs psychology. Mostly it is ot and pt etc… But possibly who knows.

If you want to live in israel, then i think you should go to college there. Not because it may be free, but because you want to start off and do everything there. You want to date there, find a college there, do everything. If aliyah is what you really really want, then make aliyah first and do everything afterward.

If you plan on having the career in Israel, a professional degree in Israel is highly preferable. It is often hard to transfer credentials between countries and all your professional connections will be derived from where you went to school.
