Are just people who are really bad at drinking coffee, so bad that they can’t even enjoy the average cup.
December 15, 2016 6:49 pm at 6:49 pm #1203107JosephParticipantFrankly, Taster’s Choice instant coffee tastes as good or better than the vast majority of brewed coffee. Including Gevalia and Starbucks.
December 15, 2016 6:56 pm at 6:56 pm #1203108☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant?? ??? ???? ?? ???????. Tasters Choice isn’t bad for instant, but doesn’t compare to a decent cup of real coffee.
December 15, 2016 6:57 pm at 6:57 pm #1203109MenoParticipantI think the same could be said about most, if not all, connoisseurs
December 15, 2016 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm #1203110JosephParticipantSays you.
December 15, 2016 7:19 pm at 7:19 pm #1203111MenoParticipant“?? ??? ???? ?? ???????”
Is that how the line goes?
December 15, 2016 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm #1203112blubluhParticipantI don’t think too many people take (have?) the time to really enjoy a good cup of coffee no matter how it’s brewed.
Coffee gets gulped down like medicine to alleviate drowsiness, remain alert at work or to warm up on a wintry day. It doesn’t often get shared with friends at the end of a day or on weekends like, say, a glass of beer.
Considering how much some people pay per serving at the local barista, it’s somewhat surprising and perhaps a little unfortunate.
December 16, 2016 1:28 am at 1:28 am #1203113Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantMeno, I guess some people don’t like the “n” word (no). They consider it offensive.
December 16, 2016 2:04 am at 2:04 am #1203114Ex-CTLawyerParticipantI love a really good cup of coffee. I’ve been drinking it for more than 55 years.
That said, I have paid for and pushed away or thrown out hundreds of cups of coffee, which were served to me or sold to me, that were not really good.
Sugar (real or artificial) and cream may cover up the shortcomings of an inferior cup, but I drink my coffee black. If it’s not really good, I can’t be bothered.
BTW>>>I don’t drink it for the caffeine rush or pick me up. In fact, it relaxes me. I often have a large mug just before I go to sleep for the night.
I don’t drink decaf or instant…I consider them a joke. If you enjoy them fine, I won’t belittle you.

It’s probably cold by now.
December 16, 2016 6:34 am at 6:34 am #1203116yehudayonaParticipantProbably really large too.
December 17, 2016 11:46 pm at 11:46 pm #1203118RookieRebbe613ParticipantCoffee is a big waste of time, and the amount of time that people spend on the narrishkeit on here and there, it causes such bittul torah, especially in yeshivas, where the oilam is spending more time in the “coffee” room then in the beis medrash. Hashem should help those who lose precious moments on this world due to the batala on coffee.
December 18, 2016 1:33 am at 1:33 am #1203120yehudayonaParticipantRR613, surely when you wrote “coffee” you meant “the coffee room.”
December 18, 2016 1:40 am at 1:40 am #1203121Ex-CTLawyerParticipantDY and YY
One of the benefits of drinking black, unsweetened coffee, is that a good cup still tastes goo hours later at room temperature. The creamer doesn’t go bad.
December 18, 2016 2:14 am at 2:14 am #1203122LightbriteParticipantCoffee stains teeth. The CR doesn’t stain teeth.
December 18, 2016 2:17 am at 2:17 am #1203123LightbriteParticipantMaybe people should switch to coffee ice cream.
Cold coffee made it easier to drink faster. Iced coffee causes brain freezes and can also be consumed rapidly.
Coffee by spoon would slow down the process.
December 18, 2016 5:21 am at 5:21 am #1203124Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantLB – yum!
December 18, 2016 3:20 pm at 3:20 pm #1203125JosephParticipantMost coffee drinkers will rarely if ever drink black unsweetened coffee. Hence most folks don’t benefit from a “better” coffee.
December 18, 2016 4:39 pm at 4:39 pm #1203126yehudayonaParticipantIt doesn’t take an aficionado to tell the difference between decent brewed coffee with milk and TC with milk. (I haven’t used sugar in 35+ years, so I can’t vouch for that.) If you’re talking about Folger’s or the like, you may be correct that TC is just as good, but just as good as bad brewed coffee isn’t a very high standard.
December 18, 2016 6:00 pm at 6:00 pm #1203127golferParticipantFor me it’s not the taste but the smell of that first cup in the morning.
Even in my half asleep state (as I haven’t ingested or processed any coffee yet) I always feel this amazing gratefulness for that delicious aroma.
Leaves me wondering if I should make a birkas harei’ach as well.
But I just make a shehakol.

I’ve heard there are those who say you can use ground coffee for b’samim by Havdalah. Not sure what b’rocho you would make.
I’ve also heard that even according to those people, you can’t use instant coffee because they spray something in there so it smells good when you open the container.
