The Gedolim of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel of America have brought the Avi Weiss affair out into the open public (see YW General News, 3/9/2010); the underlying message that this issue be discussed in the Coffee Room.

Just because the Gedolim shlita made a statement on this situation, which clearly was done out of deep pain over the situation — as can be ascertained from reading their careful words, does not mean they issued a license to debate the issue.
It isn’t a matter of debate. The leaders of Klal Yisroel have spoken in a loud, clear and unified voice, and that closes the case.
This thread is going to deteriorate rather quickly.
Why don’t we just blame the whole thing on dov hikind and close the thread.
