I’ve seen a bunch of posters recently getting fed up with choppy’s posts. Whether he posts under choppy, Health, ohr chodesh, or just under Joseph, this user really does get under everyone’s skin.
This thread is a petition to have all these names (alts of Joseph) banned.
Who else wants to sign?
August 9, 2012 5:48 pm at 5:48 pm #890426Doodle-Man™MemberI’m in. But you forgot Csar.
August 9, 2012 6:11 pm at 6:11 pm #890427Feif UnParticipantYou’re correct, sorry!
Mods, can you add Csar to my initial post?
August 9, 2012 6:11 pm at 6:11 pm #890428ConcernedMemberParticipantThis person, whatever usernames he may use, does not contribute anything positive. What’s funny is that he seems to be somewhat knowledgeable but his interpretations are so horribly distorted and twisted that there are really only 2 possibilities. Either A) He is part of some kind of extremist group that has no respect for the basic tenets of Orthodox Judaism or B) He’s a very bored person who posts these ridiculous comments simply to annoy people.
If it’s A then having him here is extremely dangerous to anyone who looks on this site for halachic opinions or explanations, because G-d should help anyone that trusts the halachic views of a man who was such a twisted hashkafah.
If it’s B then having him here is unfair to the other members of this site who take the conversations here seriously.
I understand that this is a privately owned site, and I’m not the owner, but as a user I find it difficult to rationalize why someone who is so openly hostile and rude would be kept around and have his posts approved. It’s not good for the site.
August 9, 2012 6:14 pm at 6:14 pm #890429chocandpatienceMembernot Health. Very different style.
How do you expect to get them all banned? You know that we’ve been through all that before. It got *very* messy.
August 9, 2012 6:15 pm at 6:15 pm #890430KozovMemberI would ban popa and bar shatya first.
August 9, 2012 6:20 pm at 6:20 pm #890431OneOfManyParticipantAs long as he only posts under one username…I think he’s showing definite improvement in that area…
August 9, 2012 6:21 pm at 6:21 pm #890432WolfishMusingsParticipantJust to play devil’s advocate here, do you only want to discuss matters with people who think exactly like you? I think having alternative voices — whether on the “right” or “left” is a good thing in a message board.
On the other hand, I personally hate sock-puppetry and wish he would just stick to one screen name.

August 9, 2012 6:24 pm at 6:24 pm #890433ChachamParticipantI don’t like Joseph.
August 9, 2012 6:27 pm at 6:27 pm #890434yichusdikParticipantI don’t know that they are all the same person (I am sure not Health) and I don’t want him banned. Choppy is doing more damage to the positions he advocates for than I could ever do.
August 9, 2012 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm #890435Doodle-Man™MemberNo! Popa and Bar Shatya are some of are best entertainment!
August 9, 2012 6:34 pm at 6:34 pm #890436popa_bar_abbaParticipantJoseph is a rasha gamur, and edited. That’s about what I know about both of them.
August 9, 2012 6:35 pm at 6:35 pm #890437ItcheSrulikMemberHealth is a different style. I think we have two sets of sock puppets here; the Josephs asher shartzu l’minehem and Csar/choppy/ohr chodesh. The Joseph set consistently knows more Torah than the choppy set.
August 9, 2012 6:56 pm at 6:56 pm #890438ChachamParticipantpopa- you really think I am a rasha and a prize student of Reb Avigdor Miller?
August 9, 2012 6:59 pm at 6:59 pm #890439Feif UnParticipantI have a good idea – whenever choppy posts, I will donate some money to the World Zionist Organization!
August 9, 2012 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #890440ZeesKiteParticipantPopa, Please, a bit of respect for that great man. I was by a few of his shiurim. I’m not one to evaluate or measure gedolim, but he certainly was from the elite few. I don’t exactly know what you had against this Joseph, which may at this time be non-existent, but you shouldn’t ?? ????? equate the two. I’m not exactly sure how one goes about asking mechila of a Godol no longer among us, but it’s serious stuff. ????? ????? ??? is not something to be taken lightly. In fact if 80 were here moderating, I’m sure he’d pick up on those terrible, demeaning remarks.
August 9, 2012 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #890441KozovMemberI don’t even get how its possible to have multiple screen names when its officially not allowed.
August 9, 2012 7:10 pm at 7:10 pm #890443chocandpatienceMemberpopa, don’t bring Rav Avigdor Miller into all this.
August 9, 2012 7:10 pm at 7:10 pm #890444popa_bar_abbaParticipantzeeskite: Sorry, I judge the rebbi by the talmidim. That’s how the ball rolls.
And you are correct, there is no way 80 would have let that through. And he’s probably correct to block it, since it’s a dangerous road to start down. Too bad Joseph set this rolling.
August 9, 2012 7:20 pm at 7:20 pm #890445zahavasdadParticipantFrankly I am an advocate of free Speech and that includes people I dont agree with
August 9, 2012 7:20 pm at 7:20 pm #890446Doodle-Man™Memberlol to the mod that gave choppy his subtitle. (Subtitles are totally traif by the way 🙂 )
August 9, 2012 7:22 pm at 7:22 pm #890447chocandpatienceMember“Sorry, I judge the rebbi by the talmidim. That’s how the ball rolls. “
That is utterly ludicrous
August 9, 2012 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm #890448mewhoParticipanti agree with concerned member
August 9, 2012 7:25 pm at 7:25 pm #890449popa_bar_abbaParticipantIs it ludicrous? I think it is perfectly intuitive.
Who was that story with the rav who asked what if his congregation doesn’t rise with mashiach, who will he lead? And he was told if his congregation doesn’t rise, won’t either.
August 9, 2012 7:37 pm at 7:37 pm #890450ItcheSrulikMemberFeif: Great idea! I will donate to American Friends of the IDF.
August 9, 2012 7:38 pm at 7:38 pm #890451JayMatt19ParticipantThe Rebbe decides who his talmidim are.
Someone who “claims” to be a talmid doesn’t automatically make him one, nor should that be indicative of the Rebbe.
Some clown a few years back who called himself a talmid of R’ Moshe Feinstein, decided to allow women to remarry without ever receiving a get from their original husband. If this makes you view R’ Moshe as any less of a person due to this clown, then you Popa are an idiot
August 9, 2012 7:39 pm at 7:39 pm #890452mexipalParticipant“Sorry, I judge the rebbi by the talmidim. That’s how the ball rolls.”
Popa I wouldn’t want to judge your rebbeim by you. Rav Avigdor Miller Zatzal was recognized as on of the Gedolei Hador regardless of who pretends to be one of his Talmidim.
August 9, 2012 7:39 pm at 7:39 pm #890453ZeesKiteParticipantOk, Popa, have anything against me? I’m a bigger talmid. btw, how do you know for a fact that he was a talmid? Have you heard of this Great Man’s derech? His shumesen in Yiddish, English?
Again, I don’t think this is the path you (or any Torah true Jew) should be taking. ISN’T THIS THE YESHIVA WORLD???
August 9, 2012 8:19 pm at 8:19 pm #890454chocandpatienceMember“Is it ludicrous? I think it is perfectly intuitive. “
August 9, 2012 8:21 pm at 8:21 pm #890455popa_bar_abbaParticipantCan someone tell us more about that? I read the entry for Rebbi nachman in the encyclopedia judaica, and it said he was quite controversial in his life as well. I’m not too familiar with that work though.
August 9, 2012 8:41 pm at 8:41 pm #890456ItcheSrulikMemberPba: He was controversial, but when you read any biographical article in the Encyclopedia Judaica, you have to consider the source. It was written by Humanities professors i.e. people who shoot their mouths off for a living. (Don’t worry, I know you’re having a lot of fun with this thread.)
August 9, 2012 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #890457ZeesKiteParticipantItche and Popa, having fun is one thing, toying with stocks in the world to come is another.
August 9, 2012 9:37 pm at 9:37 pm #890458popa_bar_abbaParticipantI’m not having fun. I wish I had never made acquaintance with this creep.
August 9, 2012 10:01 pm at 10:01 pm #890459ConcernedMemberParticipantIf I could return to the topic…
This site is run a different way than sites that I have/do run.
As we all know, a moderator has to approve posts before they show up, as opposed to many other forums in which a post appears and then a moderator can remove it when necessary.
In this environment I fully understand and support the reason it is done in this way.
What I don’t understand is why moderators would approve posts by people who are clearly here to disrupt and who make such depraved and twisted statements that to a casual reader reflect very poorly on the site itself. I’m afraid I just don’t get it.
It’s almost as though you have set up a system that could run quite well, but you allow lunatics to detract from that, post a few inflammatory statements and utterly destroy a topic. Why?
August 9, 2012 10:05 pm at 10:05 pm #890460nitpickerParticipantany one who proudly wears the word incorrigible has no credence and should be shunned.
August 10, 2012 7:52 am at 7:52 am #890461KozovMemberditto that nitpicker. He should be banned. Along with his babyish minions. It would be one thing if he kept his comments less ridiculous and hurtful and interfering and didnt always put them in a serious conversation and have his little minions coincidentally chirping his praise. Thats why i vote to ban him. Since that wont work i will boycott him from now on, excluding certain inevitable circumstances. Anyone else up for that?
