I came across a post by Joseph from Sukkos 5769, but figured it would be great to start a thread for Sukkos 5770.
Let’s just keep to the topic, and post ideas!
September 21, 2009 7:28 pm at 7:28 pm #662187squeakParticipantWoodstock?
September 21, 2009 7:33 pm at 7:33 pm #662188LeiderLeider…ParticipantI own a summer home (nothing big – nothing fancy – just nice and cozy). I plan on going upstate for Chol Hamoed. My kids will enjoy romping around with the others more than the synthetic fun provided by rides and the likes.

September 21, 2009 8:05 pm at 8:05 pm #662190LeiderLeider…Participantsqueak? You speaking to me? I do pay full tuition (4 kids in school) and I do not have any government programs.
I agree with your attitude, by the way.
September 21, 2009 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm #662191squeakParticipantI’m sorry if you took me seriously. I thought especially with the tone of the banter today you’d take it as a big haha. Though your attitude is commendable.
September 21, 2009 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #662192AnonymousInactivesqueak, seems to me everyone is taking you too seriously today. Get these people some food!
September 21, 2009 8:19 pm at 8:19 pm #662193jphoneMemberSpeaking of Chol Hamoed destinations….
Does anyone know where the closest shuls are to Cape May, New Jersey? Are they in Atlantic City? Anything closer?
September 21, 2009 8:24 pm at 8:24 pm #662194areivimzehlazehParticipantI didn’t realize there were shuls in Atlantic City…. do you attend services before or after you lose your pants? 😉

September 22, 2009 1:52 am at 1:52 am #662197sunflowerMemberi like going to the slideshows. i think that these big amusement parks are a big waste of money. and a good idea would be to bring your kids to the boardwalk and let them play in the sand if they are little and if they are older they can shpatzeer.. i did this for many years and its proven for all ages!
September 22, 2009 7:53 am at 7:53 am #662198JaxMembera trip to YW’s Moderator HQ! what a blast that would be! 😉

September 22, 2009 2:28 pm at 2:28 pm #662200workingMemberMy husband rented a car for two days of chol hamoed. We want to go somewhere nice and not expensive like all those circuses they have advertised all over. I live in Brooklyn does anyone have advice?? I heard of rhode island but i am not sure i am going to enjoy seeing a bunch of old mansions…. I need a good idea—
September 22, 2009 4:37 pm at 4:37 pm #662201LeiderLeider…Participant– working
Why don’t you try Bushkill Falls. It’s a beautiful place to spend the day and see Hashems stunning handiwork. You can spend one day at the falls and another day biking or boating on the Delaware river. Great family fun!
You can stay in one of the many rustic and quaint lodges in the area. I think you will find them rather inexpensive.
I’ll gladly assist you further if you wish.
September 22, 2009 4:46 pm at 4:46 pm #662202gavra_at_workParticipantHow about the Museum of Science and Industry, it is supposed to be fantastic for children.
Or maybe go up to Lake Dillon & rent a boat. Talk about a view!
September 22, 2009 5:08 pm at 5:08 pm #662204workingMemberThank you so much for all the ideas. Leider- Are the bushkill falls near the delaware river??
Gavra- I googled Lake Dillion and so many things come up. Would you by any chance know where it is located or any details. This sound like my line of interest.
September 22, 2009 5:12 pm at 5:12 pm #662205LeiderLeider…ParticipantYes, Bushkill is very close to the Delaware River. From Brooklyn you would take the I-80 until you hit Pennsylvania. Bushkill Falls is a short ride from the river.
September 22, 2009 5:13 pm at 5:13 pm #662206jphoneMemberGoogle Bushkill falls.
It is not far from NYC. Perhaps 90 minutes. It is not far from Dingmans Ferry and Port Jervis.
Once there, Strousberg, PA and surrounding area is also beautiful. A trip to the top of Mt. Pocono would be nice, if your into this type of activity.

What is everybody planning on doing this Chol Hamoed? What is there to do? I heard there’s a few concerts. I’m still deciding.

Acutually, not on Chol HaMoed (unless needed in an emergency).
I only lain on Shabbos/Yom Tov.

Gavre: I am still waiting to hear about this place Lake Dillion. Where is that and do you know any info. I would appreciate it.
Poshita Yid: My opinion is that instead of spending all that money going to concerts go on an outing with the family. The memories are fantastic. One time a year have fun all together.

I didn’t ask you (or anyone else) to go to school? Poshite Yid asked what people were doing over Chol HaMoed. For me, the answer is working and going to school.

I’m sure it’s very nice, and I have little doubt that I’d love to go and bring my camera along — but I *still* have to go to work and to school.
Sorry.
