Who likes chocolate around here? To tell you the truth I’m the biggest fan of chocolate (I hope this gets past the mods) yet I couldn’t think about anything else to start a topic about so I decided to start a topic about chocolate. Yes I know that was very random, i know that and yes Randomex I’m trying my best not to troll maybe I do it automatically (that’s for a different post). So chocolate is I think is most peoples favorite nash, I think I mean what else would you choose, what something like macaroni? And I was surprised that Letaikin girl’s married. – I always thought she wasn’t. Maybe that’s just me.
November 2, 2014 7:20 pm at 7:20 pm #1039967👑RebYidd23ParticipantChocolate is not a nosh.

Troll. Or troll not. There is no try.
(There is no troll.)
November 5, 2014 3:46 pm at 3:46 pm #1039974☕️coffee addictParticipant“i mean what else would you choose”
lollipops?
November 5, 2014 7:02 pm at 7:02 pm #1039975oomisParticipantChocolate comes from cacao beans which grown in the ground. So I am counting my mousse tonight as a vegetable serving.
November 5, 2014 8:02 pm at 8:02 pm #1039976Bookworm120Participant@oomis – That’s brilliant! 😀
November 5, 2014 9:25 pm at 9:25 pm #1039977👑RebYidd23ParticipantAlmost anything can be considered a vegetable.
November 5, 2014 9:25 pm at 9:25 pm #1039978👑RebYidd23ParticipantExcept mushrooms.
November 5, 2014 11:51 pm at 11:51 pm #1039979ivoryParticipantMarijuana for example
November 5, 2014 11:57 pm at 11:57 pm #1039980👑RebYidd23ParticipantActually, mushrooms can also be considered a vegetable. I don’t know what I was thinking.
November 6, 2014 1:42 am at 1:42 am #1039981RandomexMemberFor people actually saying what their favorite chocolate is, go here: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/chocolate
Some of those users are long gone, but Oomis, Coffee Addict, and Kapusta are here now (and Gefen and BrotherOfUrs were also here in the last few months).
Fun (?) fact: The cocoa bean was a common currency throughout Mesoamerica (wherever that is) before the Spanish conquest.
If we’re taking anything that grows from the ground to be a vegetable, I believe there’s a Gemara that classifies animals, with regard to a specific thing, as “giddulei karka.”
oomis:
“Chocolate comes from cacao beans which grown in the ground.”
Actually, they grow on a tree!
RebYidd23:
Mushrooms grow on the ground, but they don’t grow from it.
(Where have the users who would get Star Wars
references gone? OneOfMany is sorely missed…)
November 6, 2014 2:39 am at 2:39 am #1039982👑RebYidd23ParticipantMushrooms grow on plants or sometimes animals. They convert the plant matter into mushroom. Therefore, mushrooms are vegetables. Cows eat grass. Grass is a plant. Plants are vegetables. Cows are vegetables.
November 6, 2014 2:44 am at 2:44 am #1039983BTGuyParticipantOkay RebYidd….Chocolate is not a nosh, a fish is not a pet, your cap is not on your head. Where are we going with this? I know, we are going nowhere with this. lol
All seriousness aside: Can someone recommend cholov yisroel chocolate that can even come close to cholov stam? I would truly be very interested to know and try some for the team.
November 6, 2014 3:02 am at 3:02 am #1039984RandomexMemberBTGuy:
I’m not a connoisseur, but have you tried Rosemarie,
Torino, Schmerling, and Alprose?
RebYidd23:
According to Wikipedia, mushrooms are “typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source.” I didn’t see mention of what mushroom food consists of, but I didn’t go through the whole page thoroughly. I did see this, though:
“[D]ue to the ability of mushrooms to absorb heavy metals, including those that are radioactive, European mushrooms may, to date, include toxicity from the 1986 Chernobyl disaster and continue to be studied.”
1. Cows eat grass.
True.
2. Grass is a plant.
True.
3. Plants are vegetables.
False. This is also relevant to “[Mushrooms] convert the plant matter into mushroom. Therefore, mushrooms are vegetables.”
4. Cows are vegetables.
False.

November 6, 2014 3:49 am at 3:49 am #1039986ivoryParticipantI’ve never tried cholov stam (probably missing out) but torino and shneer long chocolates are delicious! Parve chocolates from a newish company called pardes is also pretty good. Alprose is meh…

Ground, tree! It’s all good. And it’s STILL a vegetable!!!!
November 6, 2014 5:31 pm at 5:31 pm #1039989BTGuyParticipantRandomex.. Thank you for those suggestions, I will keep them in mind. 😀
RebYidd23. WAIT A SECONT! lol. Your syllogism was severely riddled with faulty conclusions. I know you wrote that just in jest.
I would not bother trying to defend, or use that formula for further proofs. lol
Just for fun, you said: Mushrooms grow on plants or sometimes animals. They convert the plant matter into mushroom. Therefore, mushrooms are vegetables. Cows eat grass. Grass is a plant. Plants are vegetables. Cows are vegetables.
1. Mushrooms can even grow on walls. They decompose organic material to make other mushrooms, but they stay mushrooms. They dont become walls, animals, plants, or whatever else they decompose. lol
You syllogism of: Mushrooms convert plant matter into mushrooms, therefore, mushrooms are vegetables, is a faulty conclusion right off the bat. Everything after that is “food” for thought.
In a round about way, its sorta like saying if you ate an orange and you digest it to sustain yourself, you are an orange. You are not an orange. When you have a hamburger, you are not a hamburger. We can be meat heads, but that is different. lol
“They” say our cells are totally renewed every seven years. That renewal is fueled by our diet on the physical level. So, unless we ate humans, ………. we are cholent? And even if you sustained yourself by eating only cholent, are we cholent?
BUTTTTT!! You do bring up a fascinating concept. (If you are not yet snoozing) We all share atoms, which are the smallest building block of physical life. Its just the arrangement of those atoms that vary. According to Derech Hashem, everything in the Bria is very much connected and on deep level, one and the same. This was, in part an explanation as to how tzoras could infect a person’s wall first, and then their clothes, back in the day. Our “things” are not so far removed from us.
November 6, 2014 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm #1039990👑RebYidd23ParticipantMy argument was based on the “you are what you eat” thing.
November 6, 2014 7:04 pm at 7:04 pm #1039991lamud vov tzadikParticipantChocolates really taste nice.
