June 16, 2009 7:27 pm at 7:27 pm #648013mepalMemberGo to sleep early and eat a good breakfast 😉
June 16, 2009 7:29 pm at 7:29 pm #648014ChattyMemberAdvice: Don’t be on Yeshiva World Coffee Room!!! GO STUDY!
June 16, 2009 7:36 pm at 7:36 pm #648015JotharMembernotnorm, the year I was supposed to take it, the answer key was on the front cover of the Post. They cancelled it.
June 16, 2009 7:42 pm at 7:42 pm #648016anon for thisParticipantmepal, that’s the advice my mother always gave me before big tests (I didn’t take regents, but did take SATs etc). I also used to say tehillim & give tzedaka before a big test.
June 16, 2009 7:53 pm at 7:53 pm #648017notnorm37Membergood ideas..
jothar – you were probably psyched. but thats so not happening…
June 16, 2009 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm #648018moish01Memberjothar, you’re that old?
just kidding
June 16, 2009 7:57 pm at 7:57 pm #648019areivimzehlazehParticipantMy year was the overlap of too many maths and sciences
June 16, 2009 8:00 pm at 8:00 pm #648020Pashuteh YidMemberHatzlacha. Also remember that they have made it easier recently, and many times you will read a very longwinded problem of which 75% is totally irrelevant to the question that follows (red herring), and you only need one basic piece of info from the whole megillah and a drop of math to solve it. Don’t be intimidated.
June 16, 2009 8:04 pm at 8:04 pm #648021Mayan_DvashParticipantAced it in the 90’s. Probably couldn’t today.

June 16, 2009 9:06 pm at 9:06 pm #648022kapustaParticipantnotnorm, oh man… a whole year ago! aside from going to sleep early, and eating a good breakfast (supposedly natural sugar helps you concentrate) what helped me a lot is that there are a lot, I repeat, a LOT of answers buried on the reference table. If you get stuck start searching. HATZLACHA and of course report back to us here. 🙂
June 16, 2009 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #648023JotharMemberMoish, yup I’m old. If you add up my gilgulim I’m sure I’m in the hundreds…

Mod: No sense of humor?
June 16, 2009 10:31 pm at 10:31 pm #648028areivimzehlazehParticipantregents are overrated- they’re not all that bad
June 16, 2009 10:45 pm at 10:45 pm #648029chaverimMemberJothar, did you mean to give away your age with that comment? The NY Post answer key to the regents is well known when that happened!
June 16, 2009 11:11 pm at 11:11 pm #648030kapustaParticipantnotnorm, last year was supposed to be a hard one, my guess is that you would get an easy one this year because I think they alternate.
June 16, 2009 11:45 pm at 11:45 pm #648032SJSinNYCMemberI only took the Math I regent and then went to NJ for school. The Math I regent was a joke compared to my finals…
June 17, 2009 12:13 am at 12:13 am #648033tzirelMemberAll I can say is hatzlacha raba may u pass wth flying colours
June 17, 2009 12:32 am at 12:32 am #648034an open bookParticipant…i think i just lost my “youngest member” status.
June 17, 2009 12:37 am at 12:37 am #648035mepalMemberYour brother studied? that’s like one in a million. No. Don’t feel bad for him. He’s OVERdoing himself.
June 17, 2009 12:54 am at 12:54 am #648036havesomeseichelMemberwhat happened with the post and the regents?
someone once told me that every few years the answers were stolen and many times by yeshiva bochurim…
dont take caffeine before you take a test cuz it will make you jittery and then crash when it wears off. thats at least what I was told when i took the SATs. never took regents but many people i know did.
regents seem to be useless cuz you dont learn anything that isnt on the curriculum where if you were not from NY you learn much different stuff. ok, ok, you actually have to learn something. but anything that isnt tested isnt taught and you end up missing out on a lot. like the history one- you learn a lot about a few eras but miss everything in between (especially the stuff that the liberal minded education board doesnt want people to know…)
June 17, 2009 1:24 am at 1:24 am #648037squeakParticipantAOB – You’re older than Jothar?? Oh my, I thought you were much younger 😉
Wasn’t there a similar story with a Math regent in the 90’s, or is that just a product of a befuddled memory?
June 17, 2009 1:36 am at 1:36 am #648038shaatraMemberSince when is age a secret here?
June 17, 2009 1:54 am at 1:54 am #648039Dr. PepperParticipantDarling Husband of mine has been very busy recently tutoring for the regents (pro bono).
Is there any way we can have a thread dedicated to different regents exams, letting students post questions and DH or others answering them, so he doesn’t have to answer the same questions to different students over and over again?
June 17, 2009 2:07 am at 2:07 am #648040notnorm37Memberthank you everyone for all your encouragement, i studied rly hard and i hope to do well…g’ night to all and ill keep you posted!

June 17, 2009 6:31 am at 6:31 am #648042JaxMemberJothar: i highly doubt you knew that we all knew the year when the regent answers were stolen! i thought you were way younger! 😉
aob: seems like you sure did loose that status around here!
youngbutnotstupid: welcome to the Grand CR! join the fun!
June 17, 2009 10:29 am at 10:29 am #648043A600KiloBearParticipantBS”D
Hatzlacha. One thing is for sure, stay away from one of the few chemical formulas I still remember, C2H5OH (CH2CH3OH in old notation), until after the exam!
June 17, 2009 1:37 pm at 1:37 pm #648044mepalMemberor dihydrogen monoxide, or all those ethel, ester’s….
June 17, 2009 2:19 pm at 2:19 pm #648045an open bookParticipantvery funny, squeak 😉
shaatra: yeah, i don’t know, but sometimes the mods don’t let ages through & sometimes they do.
June 17, 2009 4:28 pm at 4:28 pm #648046June 17, 2009 5:17 pm at 5:17 pm #648047mepalMember…and an emulsifyer agent.
June 17, 2009 6:18 pm at 6:18 pm #648048Mayan_DvashParticipantmepal, not the dihydrogen monoxide, it’s like EVERYWHERE!!!!
;
June 17, 2009 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm #648049havesomeseichelMemberOH NO! you mean that the dihydrogen monoxide has reached that contamination stage? oh no!!!! you know that too much of it is toxic, its been found in vegetable farms, in most foods- yikes! 🙂
June 17, 2009 8:18 pm at 8:18 pm #648050mepalMemberuhhh, does anyone know what dihydorgen monoxide is?? Doesn’t sound like it 😉 Go back to 11th grade!!
June 17, 2009 8:42 pm at 8:42 pm #648051Dr. PepperParticipantI once created some Dihydrogen monoxide on an international flight by not closing the cap to the seltzer bottle tight enough.
Luckily it was before 9-11-2001.
June 17, 2009 8:44 pm at 8:44 pm #648052moish01Membernow i do. thanks to wikipedia 😉
June 17, 2009 8:49 pm at 8:49 pm #648053Mayan_DvashParticipantummmmm let me seee
dihydorgen == 2 Hydrogen atoms
monoxide == 1 Oxygen atom
oooo oooo ooooo
H2O!
That’s water!
Now do you understand my previous post?
;
June 18, 2009 12:22 am at 12:22 am #648054mepalMemberGood. I’m glad everyone know now.
June 18, 2009 1:33 am at 1:33 am #648055JaxMemberi can honestly say i don’t remember a thing from my chem regent!
& i heard from some people that the regent wasn’t so bad this year! lucky u all!
June 18, 2009 2:36 am at 2:36 am #648056JaxMemberthe chem regent is over, does the thread go bye bye?!?
June 18, 2009 3:54 am at 3:54 am #648057havesomeseichelMembermepal- at a ” be green/organic/recycle” event, someone went around asking people to sign a petition against a chemical that has been put into our food supply that can be toxic…. please sign the petition to take away <drumroll please> dihydrogen monoxide! people actually signed!!!
June 18, 2009 1:10 pm at 1:10 pm #648058mepalMemberNo Jax, now we’re discussing our contaminated food!
June 18, 2009 3:00 pm at 3:00 pm #648059feivelParticipantactually dihydrogen monoxide can be toxic, even fatal
there have been cases of fatal hyponatremia from ingestion of very large quantities of dihydrogen monoxide over a short period of time.
June 18, 2009 4:41 pm at 4:41 pm #648060havesomeseichelMemberfeivel, that was the point! 😉
this person getting others to sign a petition was reporting the truth, it was just in how you phrase it all. toxicity, farmers use it constantly, in most processed foods ect.
June 18, 2009 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #648061feivelParticipantanother thing about dihydrogen monoxide
if it is not properly treated before ingestion, it can contain numerous infectious agents.
June 18, 2009 5:16 pm at 5:16 pm #648062mepalMemberfeivel, this is getting serious. Anything else we should know about?
