I am looking for list, with phone numbers if possible, of the least expensive wedding halls in Brooklyn/Queens. inexpensive, not fance, but big. anyone know where I can find such a list?
January 18, 2010 5:19 pm at 5:19 pm #673671PhyllisMemberoomis1105, Ateres Avrohom , is a beautiful big hall, but it is among the more expensive.
How about the new Belz hall, that is supposed to be very big and reasonably priced or Torah V’yirah which is not so big but very nice.
January 18, 2010 5:43 pm at 5:43 pm #673672arcParticipantAteres Avrohom isnt cheap.
January 18, 2010 5:47 pm at 5:47 pm #673673Proud JewMemberoomis, I disagree. Ateres Avrohom is very expensive. Imperial on Bedford Cor. Wallabout is much cheeper & pretty nice.
also rose castle has now an option for half the price with some conditions.
January 18, 2010 6:09 pm at 6:09 pm #673674smartcookieMemberVitzniz has hall on 18 and 53 in BP. Standard, nice hall. Nothing massive but nice size.
Very average price.
January 18, 2010 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #673675MOMof4Memberthere is a new place opening up in flatbush, in coney island avenue. I heard its the owner from Ateres Shlomo.
January 18, 2010 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #673676Feif UnParticipantI believe V’Yoel Moshe is pretty cheap. Also, if you’re willing to travel a bit for a really nice hall, there’s a place called Anthony’s Pier 9, in New Windsor, NY. It’s a gorgeous hall, and it’s relatively cheap, as they’re trying to get Jewish people to use their facilities.
January 18, 2010 6:19 pm at 6:19 pm #673677artchillParticipantTry the Le Cordon Bleu in Queens. 718-441-8800
Vayoiyel Moishe in Villiamsboorg! Dirt cheap and they do a nice job for the price.
Razag is supposed to be very nice and affordable.
January 18, 2010 8:44 pm at 8:44 pm #673678oomisParticipantThanks for the correction – I THOUGHT it was Ateres Avrohom, but which one is the one where they will only allow a one man band, then? Is it near McDonald Avenue? That might be what I was thinking of. My bad. Sorry.
Razag did an outstanding job for us, and Moishe Shmukler was a doll to deal with. I cannopt recommend them highly enough. The food was great, the service, too, and they were very helpful.
January 18, 2010 9:14 pm at 9:14 pm #673679Feif UnParticipantoomis, you’re probably thinking of Ateres Yakov. It’s on New Utrecht (under the tracks, hence the confusion with McDonald).
January 18, 2010 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #673680Feif UnParticipantWoops, sorry, I meant Ateres Shlomo
January 18, 2010 11:51 pm at 11:51 pm #673681oomisParticipantYou are right, Feif Un. It IS A”Sh. Ateres Yaakov is a boys’ Yeshivah HS in the Five Towns.
January 19, 2010 3:58 am at 3:58 am #673682charliehallParticipantMy wife and I were married in the beit knesset of her synagogue. The seudah was in the basement social hall. Much nicer than any wedding hall, and much cheaper!
January 19, 2010 6:38 pm at 6:38 pm #673683crarosnerParticipantIn BP: Belz on McDonald/Ave C- reasonable& nice;Torah V’Yirah(Satmar boys)on Ft. Hamilton- reasonable& not too bad;Ohr Hachaim(Viznitz)on 53 18/19 Aves- reasonable& very nice. Ateres Chaya(Satmar girls) 54 14/15 Aves & Ateres Chynka (The Cheder) McDonald/Elmwood are somewhat more expensive. For small weddings, one of the Bar-Mitzva/Sheva Brachos venues (of which there’s a large selection)may suffice.
Brighton area:Manhattan Beach JC- smallish, but nice.
Crown Hts: Razag- never been, but hear it’s nice.
Willy: V’Yoel Moshe(Satmar boys)on Bedford/Hwy- cheap; the former Brucha Sima- now called something Feige-(Satmar girls)-I think on Division- very cheap& simple, but, perhaps only available to Satmar kallahs; Concord Plaza on Bedford- cheap; Imperial(Klausenberg school) on Wallabout- very nice& fairly reasonable; Bais Ruchel(Satmar girls)on Heyward- cheap& fairly small; Continental on Rutledge- very nice& spacious- not so cheap. Rose Castle on Flushing- spacious. Eden Palace on Flushing- not cheap.Ateres Avrahom(Satmar boys) on Ross- very nice& spacious-probably the most expensive of the lot.

January 19, 2010 11:36 pm at 11:36 pm #673685toomuch00MemberKings Terrace on kings highway – beautiful hall with really great prices.
January 20, 2010 3:08 am at 3:08 am #673686A Woman Outside BrooklynParticipantWe made a wedding this year.
Our choice was Tiferes Mordechai (Ave C& McDonald aka Belz). It was beautiful, everything went very smoothly, and as I told the caterer at the end of the evening, I wish I had another daughter. It’s a bright and cheerful looking hall. Nice size dance floor too.

January 27, 2010 2:15 am at 2:15 am #673687jaynydMemberwow, thanks for the responses! Some of the places are a bit old or dumpy (no offence) I guess I want really nice and really decent prices. ATeres Avrahom I love but it is the most expenseive. what is razag? lubavitch? and I thought chynka was really big and really decent prices.
January 27, 2010 3:46 am at 3:46 am #673688Fast ForwardMemberI was told that Razag, Ateres Avrohom, Ateres Chaya and Eden Palace are all about the same price. There is a new hall on Coney Island and Avenue where they advertise for $48 a couple. Maybe check that one out. Good luck and mazel tov!

February 2, 2010 6:51 pm at 6:51 pm #673690bptParticipantLast night, I was in the new Satmar hall in Monsey (Ateres Chaya Sura). Its a “takonoh” hall, so there are some limitations, but overall, I was very impressed.
11:00 the music stops, so things start and end promptly
There is no musician or vocalist. The hall has a playlist you select from and that’s your music for the evening.
There are no photographers, They have wall mounted cameras all over the place, and a technician zooms in and clicks (its the same one who mans the music equipment)
The place is huge, the food is basic, but good, (no shmorg for the men.. not sure whatteh women get) the decor is top rate (rivals or surpasses any hall I’ve been to), and from what I heard, around $40 / couple, and that includes the hall provided music and pics.
Worth the trip.. even from BP!
