November 8, 2009 2:58 pm at 2:58 pm #910986noitallmrParticipantUm…well…to light my Menorah I suppose…
November 8, 2009 3:20 pm at 3:20 pm #910987Mezonos MavenMemberWhat are your plans for Chanukah?
To light the Menorah.
November 8, 2009 3:50 pm at 3:50 pm #910988mazal77Participantto light the menorah for eight nights, adding a new one for each day.
November 8, 2009 4:06 pm at 4:06 pm #910989cantoresqMemberTo light the menorah
November 8, 2009 5:11 pm at 5:11 pm #910990haifagirlParticipantIt seems we have a consensus here. May I add that in addition to lighting my menorah I intend to eat sufganiyot. (Had a sneak preview the other day. You can’t get sufganiyot that good anywhere else in the world.)
November 8, 2009 5:18 pm at 5:18 pm #910991ronrsrMemberwhat about latkes? sufganiot? gelt for the kiddies? a few games of draydel?
November 8, 2009 7:14 pm at 7:14 pm #910992mazcaMemberWhat about a Chanukah party? Who would you invite? What would you make? And since we are in the topic of Chanuka. Did you ever hear of a costum of lighting an extra light from the beginning? Is that mutar?
November 8, 2009 7:40 pm at 7:40 pm #910993ronrsrMemberI would invite President Obama and his family, along with Prime Minister Netanyahu and his family. Maybe I would also invite King Abdullah and Mahmoud Abbas,if they were free. We could have a nice chat over latkes and Macabee beer.
November 8, 2009 11:57 pm at 11:57 pm #910994bein_hasdorimParticipantronrsr: on that note, who do you suppose Obama will invite this year to the
White House to light the menorah?
1)Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Y”SV
2)Khaled Mashal Y”SV
3)Mahmoud Zahar YS”V
November 9, 2009 12:27 am at 12:27 am #910995goody613Memberb”H: or the rabbi that went into the church with him when he was elected
November 9, 2009 12:35 am at 12:35 am #910996bein_hasdorimParticipantgoody613; Good one! that is more realistic. 🙂
November 9, 2009 6:05 am at 6:05 am #910997ronrsrMemberok, maybe I would have them come to my house a few days before Chanukah, so I could suggest some better choices for menorah lighter.
I would not invite any of your proposed menorah lighters. Though I am usually very open-minded, and believe in hospitality, I have alerted Hamas that none of their members are welcome at my house at any time, under any circumstances. Same to leaders of “evil axis” countries. I have to draw the line somewhere.
November 9, 2009 10:20 am at 10:20 am #910999A600KiloBearParticipantBS”D
I think that for Chanukah, Barack Saddam Hussein Obama will visit Nidal Malik Hasan (if he has not peygered by then) and the two will light an electric menorah (with green lights to symbolize Islam) at Hasan YMS’s bedside.
Last time I checked, Mahmoud Abbas YMS is a leader of an evil axis entity (albeit not a country). He is also a Shoah denier who never repudiated his thesis or dissertation or whatever he wrote denying the Shoah. So, if you invite him, invite David Irving YMS as well.
November 9, 2009 11:25 am at 11:25 am #911001PosterMemberBack on topice, plans for Chanukah…I hope to make a chanukah supper for my family and invite some realtives to share the light!
November 9, 2009 2:34 pm at 2:34 pm #911002noitallmrParticipantDid anyone here see that video of last years Chanukah in the white house with the Kol Zimra choir and the menorah lighting??? I thought it was really beautiful- a true friend to the Jewish nation…George- we miss you!
November 9, 2009 4:53 pm at 4:53 pm #911004jphoneMemberI think the Hazkeni Voices would be an appropriate choice to sing Haneros Hallelu at the White House this year.

November 10, 2009 10:18 pm at 10:18 pm #911009YW Moderator-42ModeratorPaging YW Moderator-99, how many sufganiyot are you going to eat this Chanuka? And how long will you spend on the couch afterwords?
November 10, 2009 11:35 pm at 11:35 pm #911010AnonymousInactiveI think Mod 99 is still on the couch from last year’s sufganiyot. He should wake up right before chanuka.
