With chanuka coming up I would like to bring this up, Whay is there school on chanuka, isn’t it a yom tov like Purim and Pesach in which there is no school??!!
You are right. There shouldnt be school and yeshiva on Chanukah as a zecher for lehashkicham Torasecha!
usually the kids get off on Chanukah weekend, so to spend shabbos chanuka with family, camp reunions, and the like. this year my whole extended family is trying to get together which i am so excited and looking forward to seeing all my cousins aunts and uncles. it is an ideal time, especially with the simcha of chanuka infused in the air (together with the smell of yummy donuts of course, but i digress)
Purim and Chanukah are not Yamim Tovim. Melacha is allowed.
Too much learning can lead to burn out. Its not a bad thing to give people some time off without the pressures of Yom tov and time to just chill and re-charge the batteries
The kids get more than enough time off as it is. We need more school days.
