What does it take to make a change?
There’s a suggestion box over in the corner where the trash can ought to be.
Don’t put any cans or bottles in it. They get fined for that.
The Coffee Room uses off-the-shelf software called bbPress (which itself is a plug-in to WordPress, which the YWN main site uses.) Therefore changes are generally limited to whatever bbPress plug-ins are available to make specific or certain changes. If the site owner wants to make a change that there’s no ready-made plug-in to accomplish, he needs to hire expensive programmers to custom write it for him. Most sites limit themselves to whatever is freely available already.
It’s almost like they care more about the news page than the CR. Shame really… We all know what’s really important here.

Thanks for that information, Joseph. That explains why the Coffee Room software resembles a project that a novice programmer did in his spare time. 🙂
You wouldn’t necessarily need expensive programmers to customize it. A dedicated and qualified volunteer could do it. But then there’s the issue of continued support and maintenance, security patches, etc.
