I have a family of cats that made themselves comfortable in my yard.
I tried calling 311 they said I can bring the cats to their shelter.
Does anyone know of a company that I can pay that will come to my yard and remove the cats???
I tried googling this but didnt come up with any info!!
Please help!
July 20, 2015 5:39 pm at 5:39 pm #1092421WolfishMusingsParticipantTips to repel cats:
1. Remove food sources (check trashcans, etc.)
2. Moving water sprinklers
3. Cat repellent plants (sprinkle rue around your yard. Or spray citrus scents).
4. Buy a commercially sold cat repellent spray.

Great idea, though.

July 20, 2015 7:47 pm at 7:47 pm #1092425PosterMemberI called the ASPCA they told me they do not remove cats, but they take them. I should be very cautious while trapping cats.
Wolf, There is no food in my yard at all, trash cans are in the front of my home. In fact the mother cat leaves for a few hours and comes back with food, my yard it becoming a mess.
My yard doesnt have grass, its cemented.
I am wondering if there is not a company that I can pay that catches the cats and takes them to the ASPCA shelter.

You think they chose your yard by chance? Nothing happens without Heavenly oversight.
You have a rare opportunity. Give them a bowel of milk in the morning. It might even be part of your tikkun.
You don’t have to look after them officially, but a bit of milk in the morning can save you from heavy judgement later. You are very lucky.
July 21, 2015 6:13 am at 6:13 am #1092427🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantplease dont give cats milk. it can make them very sick. cats need water and would probably be very grateful for some clean water to drink. There is also a mitzva to feed your pets before you eat. I think it only counts for pets, but it means the Torah obviously holds feeding animals as important.
July 21, 2015 6:16 am at 6:16 am #1092428ExcellenceParticipantCats have milk. What are you talking about? They can lick water too.
July 21, 2015 6:29 am at 6:29 am #1092429🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantCats don’t have cows milk, and I’m guessing most people don’t have cat milk in their fridge do please don’t put out milk for any cats.
July 21, 2015 1:58 pm at 1:58 pm #1092430PosterMemberExcellence, would you say the same about mice? how about just let them live in your house and feed them cheese and butter.
Unfortunately, the cats have taken over the yard where my children play. They sit on the riding toys, climb up the slide and nap on the ground one on top of another. The yard is now off limits for my children, besides for the fact that they are afraid, the cats are unsanitary, and can possibly be carrying infections.
I need them out of my yard and I need to disinfect the whole place.
I think finding a company that can take them to a shelter is the ultimate chessed for them and for my own family.
July 21, 2015 4:28 pm at 4:28 pm #1092431JosephParticipantWhy don’t you do the cats the same thing you would do if it were mice?
July 21, 2015 4:36 pm at 4:36 pm #1092432tirtzaParticipantIf they are a danger or damage your property you can get someone to trap them and give them an injection.
They are no different than the mice or the groundhog that was eating my tomatoes and destroying my whole garden. I got a trapper whose job usually involved trapping skunks but this time it was a groundhog.
State and Interstate regulations prohibit transporting the animal to the countryside because they may end up confused and dead on the highway.($10,000 fine)
The cats in your yard are a result of someone’s negligence who released an animal that they were tired of.
An economic liability, and especially a health hazard, should outweigh the consideration for animals that the Torah expects us to show us to animals.
A shelter will probably give then to another home where they’ll outstay their novelty and again be thrown on the street.
I’m certainly not a rav,so if you think there’s a problem, go ahead and ask.
This was just another opinion that most would be afraid to post.
July 21, 2015 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm #1092433cherrybimParticipantWe had that problem. Thanks to the cat lovers lobby, cats are a much protected breed by law in New York City.
There are altruistic sorts who will take the cats away to have them neutered (free of charge) and might not bring them back; as in our case.
July 21, 2015 7:47 pm at 7:47 pm #1092434PosterMemberWHo are these “altruistic sorts”? I cant seem to find any. made dozens of calls

In one word-
Toxoplasmosis.
July 21, 2015 9:23 pm at 9:23 pm #1092436👑RebYidd23ParticipantMost adult cats can’t drink milk of any kind.
July 21, 2015 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #1092437mazal77ParticipantIf the cats are caught and Animal cControl is called to pick them up, they WILL put down the animals, as they do not have the time to try to tame them. Even friendly cats that are taken there are put down, because, they do not have the space or resources to house the thousands of animals that are brought to them. They even post in their infamous kill list, where various groups/people will try to pull them out, but in most cases there are just too many too save.
Sorry you have a problem, the best thing is try to put repellants around. Coffee Grounds, citrus scents, mothballs. Or you get close enough a spray bottle with water. They do not like to get wet.
July 22, 2015 12:20 am at 12:20 am #1092438pcozMemberIf you feed them paracetomol that will make their stomachs burst.
July 22, 2015 1:54 am at 1:54 am #1092439akupermaParticipantWhat’s wrong with cats? Would you rather have rodents? You really side with the rats and mice over the cats?
July 22, 2015 2:35 am at 2:35 am #1092440👑RebYidd23ParticipantCats also eat birds. (So if you love pigeons, besides for being a character on Sesame Street you should get rid of cats.)
July 22, 2015 3:13 am at 3:13 am #1092441CuriosityParticipantI know exactly how to take care of your problem. *cracks knuckles*
July 22, 2015 4:22 am at 4:22 am #1092443Matan1ParticipantMost cats are lactose intolerant. Giving them milk will only create a bigger mess.
If you do want to feed the cats (which by the way, will almost guarantee that they will not go away), the best thing to do would be do by cat food at your local pet store.
July 22, 2015 4:25 am at 4:25 am #1092444ExcellenceParticipantI didn’t consider the health side. Fair enough, I concede my points.
July 22, 2015 10:25 am at 10:25 am #1092445TheGoqParticipantput on some oven mitts and just pick em up and put em in a box.
July 22, 2015 12:44 pm at 12:44 pm #1092446👑RebYidd23ParticipantPut up a sign “No cats allowed”.
