Does anyone know who owns carlebach’s music? I really want to get it on 24six and I believe they don’t have it because it’s unclear who owns it.

You need to learn Rav Moshe’s teshuva, in the Igros Moshe, regarding Mr. Carlebach.

Best bet would be to get in touch with the shul on the Upper West Side, they’re still mishpacha and might be able to point you in the right direction. I know most if not all of his albums are on Spotify for a few years already, so someone must still have access to the info. Shkoiach and good luck!

I don’t understand. Is there a dispute, or it’s just unclear?
Either way, couldn’t they escrow royalties until it is clarified?

Probably Neshama Carlebach. While were at it, I would like all hasc videos, miami vids, Duvid Werderger.

    Thats all for now

U.S. copyright law has historically identified 3 Performing Rights Organizations ( SESAC, ASCAP and BMI by name in Section 101 of the Copyright Law. To the extent rights To R’ Shlomo’s music have been assigned, one of these entities would be the centralized source for rights (and can be confirmed through a simple online query.
P.S. The OP asked about music rights, not about R’ Shlomos well-known hashkafah and personal issues. Many frum shuls still use his nigunim nothwithstanding these concerns., some real and some questionable.
