I just called my boss twice for something that I could have figured out on my own…. HELP he always tells me that I have to be a self-started more and figure it out on my own without calling him….and I just did it twice in a row! I just wasnt thinking and he is not the type to forget it so fast!

You can also ask yourself “what would the boss do, what would the boss say?” Try to stay one step ahead.
April 12, 2011 3:13 pm at 3:13 pm #758461adorableParticipanti knew that he would not really know the answer but I had someone standing here and waiting and I could not find any info online. I just figured it cant hurt but when I thought about it for another min after I hung up I realized that it was nothing to call him about and he gave me no info except that i have to figure it out alone!
April 12, 2011 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #758462chocandpatienceMemberDo you have a co-worker you could ask for help instead?
(thinking about it, you obviously don’t otherwise you would have asked them)

Try to forget about. It’s over. Just next time try to think before you ask if this is something that he can assist you with or not.
Now, what’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?
April 12, 2011 5:57 pm at 5:57 pm #758466adorableParticipantI just always feel like he is ready to fire me. The whole office is in this with me- we are never sure that he wont just tell us not to come in tomorrow. its a nebach on him that he causes this to himself!
April 12, 2011 6:13 pm at 6:13 pm #758467mytakeMemberYou got that right..it’s a nebach on him.
April 12, 2011 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #758468HAKOL TOVMemberthat’s really true!
i feel the same way! why don’t bosses make you feel needed? i would work much harder for him and more willingly knowing that he is pleased with my work! he never shows any appreciation! it’s so frustrating!
April 12, 2011 10:36 pm at 10:36 pm #758469aries2756Participantadorable, in that case you know you can’t rely on him or count on him. You can only rely on yourself so forget about him. If you can’t give an answer on the spot just tell the client you will have to research it and get back to them. That’s all you can do. Then work on it and get back to them. That’s it, thats the best ANYONE can do. YOU are not superhuman and no one can expect you to be.
Obviously your boss knows that HE is NOT superman because he has to hire all this help to get the job done. Right? Learn from that.
