Do you think that it is a bit OTT how you can officialy buy a segulo from places like Kupdat Hair for nothing? Is this the right hashkofoh?

Apparently 6/10 guys ask for a refund

Donating when you run out of petrol is cheaper than refilling

R Chaim Kanievsky is the Fiveish of Kupat HAir (which is definitely wrong)

Apparently a 90 year old woman doanted and ticked the wrong box – she had a kid last week!

My friend was childless for years… last night he donated and THE NEXT DAY his wife gave birth!

All these jokes underline: Is tzaeddaka been perverted slightly that you buy a yeshua? Tzedaka al menas sheyichye beni does not go as far as the 4 Segulos in 1 donation from this week!

    BUMP!!!

    Hi yekke2.

Great point! On the surface, these things seem a little too superficial to be genuine.

Now I am no expert, but for many reasons money can have great significance in spiritual matters and mitzvos. Even money, chas veshalom, from a rasha, like haman, can capture heavenly attention.

I think, like in davening, the intent, focus, concentration, etc., are what make it work or not.

The gemoro says that you can give tzedoko ‘?? ??? ????? ???’ — my point was that it is taken out of proportion by certain organizations that garantuee yeshuos for donating – their booklets of yeshuos make it sound like some sort of insurance system, like the point of tzedoko is simply because you want the yeshuo…

No. My problem is not the donating. It is just strange the concept of BUYING a segulo. It is a warped idea: You give ????, and in that ????, you are ???? to a ?????. That is tried and tested for thousands of years already, dating up to the ????. But the problem is how much people seem to think that you are simply buying – let’s say it doesn’t work??? Is that less of a reason to give???

so by a chinese auction you’re Buying a raffle ticket hoping to win something and you get a little disappointed when you don’t win, totally forgetting the “correct” reason as to why you should give to this mosad

What bothers me most is the crass commercialization of gedolim by various organizations. I’m afraid that the next time I open the yated or hamodia paper I will see pictures of gedolim perusing the brochure of prizes for a chineese auction or wolfing down a hot dog at a fundraising bbq.

People are so ignorant when it comes to these wishful thinking charms. Shlissel challah, for example, was researched recently and found to have zero halachic or even Jewish basis atall, and is in fact a Christian concept. Just Daven, there’s no other magical cure for anything.
