.. People of varying gender, races, color digging up all the streets and avenues, causing havoc, confusion and general mayhem to all passersby… putting all of “YiddishKite” at a standstill at any random time…

Laying and placing suspicions looking yellow tubes into the underground netherworld… What’s the world coming to?!?

Just chanced by.. it took so long to get from point A to point C (gave up on B). HELP !! Let me out!!!

A yiddish kite, to which the opening poster referred, is a kite braced with two interlocking triangles instead of 2 perpendicular pieces of wood.

time to move out of boro park & move to a quiet & relaxed community smaller then Monsey or lakewood, how about cleveland or Detroit? they are beautiful torah communities

I DID move out (escaped is the word). As I’ve said many times before, I’m east of YiddishKite, in a suburb call Kensington (“poor man’s Flatbush”)

To here get from BP by foot takes about fifteen – twenty minutes, by car it’s gonna be about 45 minutes to a hour. Oh, there are two trains you could take, probably faster..

you did not get out enough. you need to get out from the entire brooklyn stuffiness. Its just as tight there just all homes versus store traffic on 13th & all other boro park avenues.

time to try chicago or Baltimore etc… (still on east coast)

I don’t have a clue what the opening post was about. Can someone app me an elucidation?

Belay that… Second thought, I don’t really give a Aramean parev strudel. My life must have better meaning than this.

    #1193168

It’s about workers digging up road and putting in pipes.

It’s about the OP’s feeble attempt to recapture the CR. To lighten up a bit. To put a smile on a people or two. Oh those good old days…

C’mon peoplach. The world is not only made up of halachos, shidduchim and seminaries. There gotta be something else to it…

Smile, casuse lil frogge said so…

    “??? ????”? ?????? ??? ?’ ???? ?? ???? ????”

Yes, it is also a very important Mitzvah to make people happy, (and you do a great job of it!) but I couldn’t leave that comment about there being more to the world than Halacha.

    LuL:

I started this thread having in mind that this is one you definitely won’t participate!!! Oh well…

Just to answer… that statement is correct, that is all HaShem has from His world… I was writing what us mortals (those little beings you see under your feet, if you look really hard) have… We have moods, attitudes, dispositions… We try to pass a smile, be supportive, give a lift, inject energy… ??? ?? ???? ??????, ?????? ???? ???!!

For the gloomy faced, solemn, morbid (sullen) characters – we have left you the other threads.

“I started this thread having in mind that this is one you definitely won’t participate!!! Oh well..”

    should I be insulted?

“Just to answer… that statement is correct, that is all HaShem has from His world… I was writing what us mortals (those little beings you see under your feet, if you look really hard) have… We have moods, attitudes, dispositions… We try to pass a smile, be supportive, give a lift, inject energy… ??? ?? ???? ??????, ?????? ???? ???!!”

It’s for us too, not just Hashem – for a Yid, there is nothing but Torah. The things that you are talking about are part of Torah (which is I think, why you are into them). I wasn’t contradicting the spirit of what you were saying; I was simply correcting the lashon. One can’t say there is anything but Torah. If something is worthwhile, it is only because it is part of Torah.

“For the gloomy faced, solemn, morbid (sullen) characters – we have left you the other threads.”

I hope you are not implying that if someone likes talking about serious things, it means they are gloomy faced, etc. It actually may be the exact opposite! Maybe they can handle such conversations because they have enough inner happiness that serious discussions don’t shter them?

That being said, I do appreciate your attempts at “lightening the mood”. Just please don’t put down us serious folks in the process! 🙂

Since when is Chicago on the east coast and I always thought it was by the great lakes. The Mashiach is going to be looking for Chicago on the east coast and wouldn’t find it. Maybe that is why it taking the Mashiach so long to come, especially if he is traveling by a white donkey.

LU: “btw, some peoplach enjoy talking about serious topics…it’s not such a terrrible thing.”

Every two weeks someone opensbumps a thread about how the CR has been taken over by aliens. Open one of your own if you want. But don’t let it bother you.

    LF: “We try to pass a smile, be supportive, give a lift, inject energy… ??? ?? ???? ??????, ?????? ???? ???!!”.

I’m curious about that. You say that you want the CR to be less serious, and I understand that. But what has that got to do with being supportive? In my understanding you can be mean and light-hearted or nice and serious. Would you say that the less serious threads are where you can get more support?

Please be kind enough to answer what I asked even if I’m sending strong seriousness vibes.

LU I wrote another post after that one which was more of a personal attack. I later regretted posting it and edited it to “it was a personal attack please delete”. I suppose the moderator thought I meant the one before it and deleted it too ):

Moderator do you still have it in your recycle bin? I’m too tired to rewrite it.

Person1, I’ll be kind, and honest. You’re right. One could be nice and serious and the other way around. I hope I don’t come through as mean.

LF- I do feel like you have been insinuating that because I am serious, I am somehow not nice. And when I asked you if you were trying to insult me, you didn’t answer… I did feel rather attacked by your comments, but I tried to say so politely. I thought you would explain that you didn’t mean it or something, but instead you accused ME of attacking YOU, without any explanation as to what in the world you were referring to. I was rather taken aback by that and wonder why you haven’t explained.

So I feeling a bit hurt as well as confused. If you have something to say to me, please say it straight out instead of all these comments that I have no clue what they are about….

Gosh!! LuL: As opposed to the general opinion that I totally LIVE here, I confess, I don’t. Actually I did once, I moved since. So I don’t get to read EVERY thread, I certainly don’t get to comment every minute. That’s why I let certain statements, posts, questions fall by..

No. I didn’t mean to insinuate that you’re not nice, ?”?. And I certainly did NOT intend to attack anyone. Anyone as in… anybody. And I did not accuse you of attacking me either. You have to be a bit lilmod of other (lesser) peoples. Their language, “shprach” as they would call it. Just because I wrote I’m under attack, doesn’t really literally mean someone’s “attacking” me.

Again, this is the Coffee Room – not a class room, so comments, statements, posts and conversations here are at an entirely different level and form.

I’m sorry I hurt your feelings.

(and if you’re in Eretz Yisroel – what are you doing up now??)

k, thanks for explaining and apologizing. I was wondering, because it didn’t seem your type…

I have a strange schedule – nice of you to notice – I sort of have an American schedule, so I’m usually up nights and sleep during the day – except of course when I’m up at night and don’t sleep during the day…. that could explain a few things…

If all you ate was honey, theoretically you wouldn’t ever have to wash your dishes. Not even in Boro Park.

it wouldn’t taste as sweet anymore if it were the only thing you ever ate. We only appreciate light because there’s darkness. If it was always light, we wouldn’t even have a name for it.

does it really last forever? can you really eat honey from 2,000 years ago?

Only if it was processed (filtered and everything), so I doubt it.

In contemporary times, processed honey lasts as long as we can measure it lasting. It would be smart if everyone put “3,600 gallons of processed honey in glass jars” on their baby registries.

That way there will always be some to pass on to the next generation and so forth.

When I was a kid my parents took me to the circus. That was when I had my first circus peanut (an orange marshmallowy candy).

After my first bite, I realized that I had tasted the most delicious thing ever. By the second or third one I was disgusted. I had never tasted something so repulsive.

I think taste buds lose sensitivity after consuming the same thing. That’s why people drink wine when eating steak. It cleanses their palate so each next piece tastes like their first. At least that’s what I learned in a shiur.

That’s what I learned in that shiur about wine!!! Yay lilmod ulemaid!!! Thank you thank you thank you I forgot what that shiur taught but now it’s coming back. Or was that the shiur about soulmates? Dunno. But the point was that if we don’t know how to apply and use a proper bottle, or expensive bottle of wine, then we miss out on the reason it was created. Like if we live life without Torah.

Boro Park is under a sack of potatos. Because Channukah is right around the corner.

btw, LB, off the topic, but speaking of shiurim, I really think you should read Gila Manolson’s book, “outside/inside” or maybe it’s called “inside/outside”. I really think you’d like it. She talks about tznius from a COMPLETELY different perspective then the way that I was and the way you are used to hearing about it.

You are a very positive person, and you need to hear about it in a positive way, not a negative way, and that is the point of her book – to present tznius as a positive, not as a negative. Also, to show how it’s something you do for yourself, not for Martians. I think it would really take the “pressure” off of the whole issue.

You can order it online. I would order a copy for you, but since I don’t know your name or address, I can’t.

lol. I wonder how many people got that! It took me a minute. I’m assuming that you meant that as per the real context of the possuk (at least according to the pshat – I don’t know if there are other explanations), and not the way it is usually used.
