don’t have internet – it is amazing that Walmart is business as usual. I feel so sorry for that young man’s family.

why is it called “black”?”
It is called “black” becouse years ago, stores would record there sales in black and drops in red.
December 1, 2008 4:45 am at 4:45 am #1192237Will HillParticipantIts CYBER MONDAY!
Anybody know the deals? Are they as good as Black Friday?
December 2, 2008 3:15 am at 3:15 am #1192238The Queen of PersiaMemberI was burned with Cyber Monday. I researched on Sunday just what I wanted to buy on Monday. Although the prices seemed good on Sunday, I had no doubt that they would be even better on Monday. Hah!!!! I ended up paying $20.00 MORE as a result of waiting. Prices were HIGHER on Monday. Not only that, I wasted HOURS shopping for the best price. Live & learn.
December 2, 2008 6:40 pm at 6:40 pm #1192240chaimssParticipantYup, I’ve learned that nothing beats Black Friday prices, and even on the off-chance that they do, it’s not worth the “risk” to wait.

I don’t think it is so amazing! I think it is horrible!
An innocent person dying such a horrible death and the store is “business as usual”??? That is no respect for the person. They should have been closed AT LEAST for the day or show some kind of sympathy for the family! not just re-open to make more money. It goes to show what’s acceptable these days.
November 14, 2014 3:38 am at 3:38 am #1192242JosephParticipantNu, what and where are the best deals this zman?

November 15, 2016 4:59 am at 4:59 am #1192245LightbriteParticipantDid you wait the whole year to buy something this black Friday? If so, what?
November 15, 2016 8:04 pm at 8:04 pm #1192246iacisrmmaParticipantlightbrite: Black Friday 2016 will take place November 25.
November 16, 2016 12:46 am at 12:46 am #1192247LightbriteParticipantiacisrmma: Are you speaking as Hashem’s messenger to tell me that next Friday I need to shop before Shabbos?
November 16, 2016 7:33 pm at 7:33 pm #1192248iacisrmmaParticipantLB: No. I interpreted your question that you thought Black Friday already took place. I was just telling you when it will take place.
November 16, 2016 8:14 pm at 8:14 pm #1192249LightbriteParticipantOh thank you.
“Did you wait the whole year to buy something this black Friday? If so, what?”
Yes I see how that sounds like I thought that it had already occurred. I am just wondering if anyone here is ready to pounce for something next week. Then again, maybe the person wouldn’t want to share to protect oneself from ayin hara, c”v shalom.
November 16, 2016 9:10 pm at 9:10 pm #1192250iacisrmmaParticipantMy wife and daughters do not wait a year for anything specific, but might need a minor appliance like a crock pot or blender and wait for Black Friday instead of buying it 2 or 3 weeks ago.
They do go to certain malls and have found good deals on clothes and other accessories (such as shoes). Some items that they purchased last year were discounted between 80% – 90% off ticketed price.

I don’t know. I don’t shop on Black Friday. I spend it (every year) cooking for Shabbos.
